This week on Need To Know, a truncated show due to technical difficulties. Troupers that they are, Jay and Mona discuss why Obama wants a government shut down, a long term strategy to defund ObamaCare, a spirited debate about Ted Cruz, and what to do about Iran?

We promise to be back next week with a full show. In the meantime, subscribe to Need To Know here

  1. Astonishing

Mona, the fact that you did not watch any of Cruz’s senate speech last week shows how you’ve closed your mind, with your eyes clenched shut and your fingers jammed in your ears.

Now that it seems a shutdown will occur when the Democrat Senate rejects the latest House GOP CR bill, tell me what good it does for our side, Mona, for you to join in the Democrat chorus to chant, “The Republicans will be blamed.” The only “good” it does is for you, Mona, to derive the ungracious pleasure of saying, “I told you so,” after you have helped to make it so.

Why do you and Cruz’s other critics in the Republican establishment think the 11th Commandment applies to him but not to yourselves?

  2. Rightfromthestart

I hate to disagree with either of you but the old– ‘if we don’t mention it, the public will see how nice we are’  – technique really worked well when Pres. McCain never mentioned Rev. Wright or Bill Ayres or any of the rest of Obama’s shady connections and also when Pres. Romney refrained from mentioning Benghazi and kept referring to Obama as a nice guy even as the nice guy was calling him a murderer.

It is all too reminiscent of battered spouse behavior.  If we go along and not make the Dems and the press mad MAYBE they won’t beat us up so bad this time.

  3. Nerina Bellinger

I may have missed it, but I hope Mona has called out fellow Republicans like John McCain who refer to those with whom he disagrees as “whacko birds.”  Plenty of Republicans violate the “11th commandment.”

  4. Bil Rega

Enough with the purity tests. More than one way to skin a cat and all that. Seems odd to quote the Reagan principle and then attack fellow conservatives when they disagree with your strategy.

  5. Look Away

Thank all of you for these responses, I will delete this podcast as well and temper the raised blood pressure.

  6. Richard Fulmer
Mona,    Please correct today’s NRO Post.  There were never 30 (or 40 or 50) million Americans without health care.  They were without health insurance but not health care

Obamacare will not increase costs because more people will be receiving health care, rather costs will rise because people will be demanding more health care now that they perceive it as “free.”  Moreover, the additional federal bureaucracy occasioned by the ACA will significantly drive up costs as well.
