Over some Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye and a hardcore brandy and eggnog, the boys bump their heads up against the debt ceiling and contrast President Obama's current strident condemnations of  Congressional resistance to raising the debt to Senator Obama's past strident condemnations of Presidential requests to raise the debt.  They also come to terms with telling lies in America through the dark glass of Manti T'eo and Lance Armstrong.  

Next they delve into the exotic world of thespianism when they are joined by the great Roger Simon and Sheryl Longin, for an entertaining discussion of their new play, The Party Line.

The Hinderaker Ward Experience (HWX) returns for a very special Christmas Eve podcast.  John Hinderaker of Powerline and Brian Ward of Fraters Libertas conspire as they dream by the fire at the nexus of Christmas and politics.

They begin with a review of HGTV’s White House Christmas 2012.  Yes, we may be $16 trillion in debt, but at least we get to enjoy scale model White House Gingerbread houses with digital photographs etched into the windows, life sized topiary models of the First Dog, and a small forest of 54 live Christmas trees and gold leaf bunting installed inside the President’s house.  The official White House chosen theme of this year’s Christmas is “Joy to All”.  The unspoken subtext may be “Après moi, le deluge”.

Next they cover the latest depressing developments in in the fiscal cliff negotiations.  Seven days out and the President is in Hawaii, while Republicans are alternately whining and cutting their own throats.   Is there any hope?  We’re holding out for a Christmas miracle.

The current, resurgent gun control debate is also touched upon, including John’s newly acquired membership in the National Rifle Association.

We wrap up with a double shot of Loon of the Week (why Lincoln is no Obama, and the Kwanzaa related consequences of the fiscal cliff) and This Week in Gatekeeping (Essss-wonderful!)
