Roberts is a spineless coward who ignores law in favor of looks.
He probably expects Trump to lose, and is positioning himself to work with the eventual Democrat majority on the Court.
Famously, Chief Justice Warren Burger joined the liberal majority voting down the death penalty, so he could write the decision himself and leave a loophole in the otherwise absolute ban.
Jim needs vacations more often. He sounded sane on Trump today.
I like the previous intro much better.
This one sounds more like the pre-2019 one, except that Lileks is no longer the voice-over/bartender.
Another point I forgot to mention: Roberts may feel that a high profile anti-abortion decision may be enough for the activist Left to sell Court packing to the rest of the Democratic Party.
They’ve done it before. Conservatives never talk about it, and I only learned of this recently, but it turns out that the notoriously liberal Ninth Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals was the product of court packing. With the Democratic Party in charge of all branches of the Federal government in the late Seventies, Congress doubled the number of judges on the circuit and let Jimmy Carter fill all the new positions with progressives.
Well I liked the woman’s voice fine, and the cognitive dissonance of hearing @jameslileks – whose voice I would recognize – pretending to be a bartender, would be too much.
