Episode 29?
Hopefully, Erica will maintain her composure more in the 2020 election cycle than she did in 2016 at Texas Monthly (I didn’t vote for Trump, but I also didn’t have a meltdown on election night, after writing stories like this in the run-up to the Trump-Clinton race)
Someone please tell me whether Peter Whiner is at all tolerable in this podcast. It was difficult to listen to him even before he succumbed to TDS…Just as I thought…started listening to him and he was like a broken record so I skipped the rest. What a bore.
Why in the world does she talk so fast? Every time Henry asks a question she starts talking before he finishes the question. Was there a satellite or Internet delay or something?
She talks so fast that I can barely understand anything that she is saying. It’s very annoying. You would think someone would tell her not to talk like that.
Didn’t listen to that part so can’t help you. The last part with Salena Zito and the Ad of the Week were good (starts at about 48-49). Couldn’t listen to the other parts – again too much speculation about what will happen and/or TDS.
I’m more used to her in print than audio. Erica really wasn’t that bad on covering Texas politics — certainly she and Paul Burka were better than the Austin-centric group Texas Monthly has now — but when it came to Trumpian things in the run up to 2016, she just kind of lost it, then totally disappeared on the mag’s election night live blog, as the conventional wisdom shifted from president-elect Hillary to Trump’s victory.
He wasn’t as bad as many. It was a curious part of the interview.
If I understood it correctly, he talked about how horrible and objectionable Trump was, and noted how the word “fascist” was used about him regularly. He pointed out, quite correctly, that Trump hasn’t actually done anything fascistic.
But somehow, he didn’t draw the obvious deduction — that Trump is not a fascist, but a pretty typical Republican, and that the Left has gone absolutely insane about him.
He didn’t seem to exhibit full-blown TDS, because he was able to acknowledge the facts. Yet he seemed to exhibit something like unconscious TDS, as he held to his anti-Trump position in the face of the facts.
As I’ve said before, I think that most of TDS comes down to the very bad taste of crow.
I should say that I actually ate that plate of crow myself, though only a small helping in my case. It was quite liberating.
Don’t fall for it, @rdowhower. Pete Wehner is atrocious on this podcast. Pete Wehner, of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, @36:00:
Did someone mention anything about the ETHICS and Public Policy Center? I wonder if such an organization has ever taken a stance on the ETHICS of an actual psychologist making a psychological assessment from afar, without ever examining the subject of the assessment.
Traits? Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a trait?
What a fraud Pete Wehner is. What an unethical fraud. What a sad, pathetic, Trump-deranged fraud Pete Wehner is.
Using a speakerphone inside an empty, ceramic-tiled room?
