Today’s podcast features an effort to parse just what it was Rep. Rashida Tlaib was trying to say in a bizarre interview about Palestinians and Jews that has once again opened up the question of why there is an anti-Semitism explosion and why the mainstream media and Democrats are refusing to confront it. Also, we discuss Game of Thrones and Alyssa Milano’s proposed sex strike, so it’s a packed podcast. Give a listen.

Biden gets a pass because enough Progressive Democrats believe he can be manipulated. And they are right. His history has been one of a politician without any discernible perspective other than to go along. Of course they all sway with the wind to some extent, but Joe is wind driven. His voting record is replete with inconsistencies as is his performance on Senate committees.

I think Democratic strategy is to run moderate, but rule from the left. He may have once been moderate, but that was back in the day when the party was center left. The Obama administration was anything but moderate, and good ole blue collar Joe was part and parcel as VP. Yet, mysteriously, Biden can still be sold as a moderate, which gives him leverage against Trump, but he won’t take on the radicals should he win. The Bernie, Warren, etc., socialist wing will be in charge.

He’s essentially a party hack, but a lucky one at that, despite his losing shots at a presidential nomination – so far.

The split is no longer ideological, it’s moral.

People on the “Left” are good, people on the “Right” are bad.  So if there’s an extreme idea from someone on the Left, even anti-semitism, it has good intentions and their media and thought piece types need to find a way to spin it, lest the bad guys pounce.  It’s “Criticism of Israel” etc.

If someone on the Right says something innocuous that was once thought as a truism, there is a need to spin that as evil.

OH MY GOD NOAH THAT JOKE WAS AWFUL.

Regarding John’s anecdote about softball games: I was (and still am) exactly the same way. It’s not hard to imagine that people who have that personality trait in other parts of their lives might be more likely to have opposed Trump in 2015-2016. Somebody should do a study.

The Ottoman Empire did ally with Germany during WWI.  But that was before there were Nazis; although it has been argued that Germany acted kind of like Nazis in some ways during WWI.  The Turkish Republic was neutral in WWII until the very end, when it was obvious to everyone but Hitler that Germany would lose.  Turkey joined the allies when the UN was formed.

In Virginia the top three elected officials are Democrats and all three are in a state of scandal.  Two are black facers and one is a double accused rapist.  If the Governor resigns, the other two are not in a position to take over.  Next in line is the Speaker of the House of Delegates.  But he’s a Republican, so the Democrats cannot have him take over.  So they are just toughing it out until the end of the term.

But it is costing them.  They have no future in electoral politics.  Democrat candidates do not want to be seen with any of the three.  They cannot raise money for the party or other Democrats.  By staying in office, they are a continuing visible embarrassment to the Democrats.  Many swing voters, and even some Democrat voters, are offended by the three.  What had been the top two Democrat candidates for Governor in 2021 are now out of the running.  They will probably have a nasty fight among lesser known Democrats for the Democrat nomination.

It doesn’t take anyone that thinks, more than 30 seconds to read what Tlaib said and realize it was an insulting, derogatory comment.  That’s like saying when I think of the slaughter of millions by the Stalin regime, or Khmer Rouge, I get a “calming” feeling.  I’ve never heard anyone say that is what they felt when thinking of The Holocaust. She clearly was offensive, and if she didn’t mean what was being perceived, she had a chance to clarify. Instead her clarification was that no one is going to silence her “freedom of speech” – I think she was clear as a bell.  I’m really astonished at the ignorance of history by some of these young women that were elected to hold seats in our government.

What knocks out Joe Biden? Joe Biden’s collusion with a hostile foreign power? I dont think his arguments in favour of China will fly in the industrial states or the rust belt. He might make it deep into the primaries, but Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio maybe troublesome for him.

What really knocks out any candidate? There are now 23 running, with a half dozen polling at 0%? What keeps them in the race? Zombie candidates, testing the waters, finding no interest, but not announcing their surrender.
