Very impressive. I saw the Young Cons bandied about in some of your posts, but I just assumed it was your street gang.
I don't know that the rest of Ricochet-land quite grasped the connection either. But then again, I have been know to be very late on the uptake.
What's the most fun...the writing...the music making...or the video making?

I really enjoy writing the lyrics and then trying to figure out the best way to lay them down to a track. My partner in crime Dave is more into the video making, so we compliment each others style quite nicely.
I should have made that more clear, now that I think about it The Young Cons does sound like a ghetto crew in a way. We appreciate any support in helping to spread the message. The battle for my future starts with my peers and trying to get them to focus more on the debt crisis than Jersey Shore or whatever else they are in to.

I found it through a passing Tweet on my none-Ricochet account, so I wasn't sure of the connection. The name works for me, in a society that has tried to make gangsters and crime "cool," working the double entendre to skewer the usual suspects is A-OK by me.

The dichotomy between the right and leftist commenters is interesting.
Conservatives: No swearing, uplifting, attacking ideas not people directly
Liberals: Cursing, racial slurs, attacking characters instead of content.
Just an interesting distinction.
We are somehow seen as privileged white boys who haven't had to work hard for anything in our lives. They see our situation as something perhaps they missed out on and think its pure luck how we got here. Victimization 101. Even if that was true, and everything in life was handed to us, how does that change the fact that lower taxes and smaller government means more freedom and financial prosperity for everyone? They are so hostile and refusing to discuss ideas and immediately go for personal attacks. I guess this just further proves elections are won by the people in the middle, some people can just never be convinced.

Could we get an intern update? What are you doing these days? I have shared "Young Cons" with my daughter, who is active in both [posh NE prep school] Republicans and Libertarians. Although she is not a rap fan, she loves you guys. :)

I am off from school this term and taking a little break working on some different honors programs apps for next year. I was admitted to the Hertog Program in DC this summer so that is where I'm headed. Still working at the Dartmouth Review with Adam which is always a good time.
I think his brother got it for him for his birthday, I'll ask him and get back to you!

Thanks for bringing that up. I had dropped a "word" to you in the comments field of the YouTube post, and some random nobody called me out on my sarcastic use of the word "Word". Not an ounce of humor or appreciation for very very dry humor. And then I saw the rest of the comments left, and they were UGLY. James Lileks is always calling out the YouTube comment threads as a sign of the end times, and I must say that I agree with him. Its just an open license to be mean. Thank God for Ricochet.
