The SEALs have yet again done something wicked cool and intrepid

MOGADISHU, Somalia - U.S. Navy SEALs parachuted into Somalia in a daring nighttime raid Monday night, freed an American and a Danish hostage, and killed nine pirates ... U.S. officials confirm to CBS News national security correspondent David Martin that members of SEAL Team Six - the same unit that killed Osama bin Laden - parachuted into Somalia and were engaged in a firefight as they neared the pirate's compound. Sources tell CBS News that nine suspects were killed, and there were no reports of U.S casualties.

The pirates were apparently quite stoned:

He said the raid was very quick and caught the guards as they were sleeping after having chewed the narcotic leaf qat for much of the evening.

Seals, Mr. Commander-in-Chief. Seals carried out the mission.

Oh, don't ruin the moment. Not everything's about Obama, even if he's sure to make it out to be.

I find it charming to see the terms "wicked cool" and "intrepid" paralleled.  Very nice.

Find pirates.  Send Seals.  Rescue hostages.

Repeat.

Great story about the SEALs. However, is it just me or does it seem we hear about these missions a lot more during the Obama Administration than we did during the Bush Administration. I don't think it's because the SEALs are more up tempo now but a reflection of more publicity seeking by an insecure Commander in Chief. Can we please put a tighter lid on what we're doing?

Awesome news. I wonder why this kind of action has not been preferred in the past.

Khat is a mild psychostimulant, less addicting, based on what I have read, than chewing tobacco.  If they slept, it was in spite of it.

After reflection, I suppose since two hostages were rescued, there was no way this couldn't be publicized. So good for the SEALs and good for Obama for authorizing it!

Great.  Let's have a bunch of hysteria with wildly exaggerated stories about the dangers of khat (or however it’s spelled).  Let’s waste a lot of money trying, and failing to interdict shipments.  Let’s ruin lives and populate prisons.

Guess I should have called out the sarcasm in my initial post.
