"Would You Consider Voting for President Obama?"
A man rang my doorbell Saturday afternoon to ask me that question. I was busy working on a few projects at the time, so his question caught me off guard. The first thing that came out of my mouth was a very loud, "Absolutely not! We've seen what Obama can do."
After I said that, the man started laughing. Not a nervous "Hey, that guy is 6' 3', 300lbs and I just said something he didn't like" type laugh, but real laughter. I think he realized that he had a product that would be very hard to sell. So he didn't try. The man smiled, said, "Thank you", and went back up the street. I noticed that he didn't even stop at my neighbor's house, the one with the "Don't Tread On Me" flag. I have a feeling my house won't be on their Get-Out The-Vote list either.
Even though I have no intention of voting for Obama, I did take the flyer that was handed to me. I wanted to see what they could possibly say about the President's record. Well, here it is:
Years later, they are still going with the "saved or created" nonsense to defend stimulus. How many jobs were saved? How many jobs were created? Or should we just assume that if you spend that much money, someone must have benefited from it?
Anyway, the last bullet point seemed odd for a Nobel Peace Prize winner. They could have said, "Under his leadership . . ." or "Oversaw . . ." But no. Barack Obama himself "Killed Osama bin Laden." Amazing.

Hmmm. What if you answered, "Well, if you'll consider voting for Romney ... in which case, let's sit down on my step for a while and discuss the pros and cons". If you flip, or shake the convictions of, one of their footsoldiers, think how many votes that counts for.
In fact, here's an idea: an army of well-equipped and nicely mannered R&R supporters who seek out and find said footsoldiers, either in the act or at their meetings, take down their guard "Say, why don't we all go for coffee -- I'm payin' -- and let's talk about some of these issues" and hold them accountable for what they're supporting.
Obama's main strength, going into the last lap, is his impressive army of volunteers. The conservative side has got nothing like it, but what we've got is thinking flesh-and-blood patriots. Tea party etc. I'm suggesting that thousands -- tens of thousands of conservative patriots get out and target these folks. In a worst case you'll simply keep the BHO footsoldiers off their beat.

My local K-12 District School Board has a couple openings. There’s a pretty solid chance I’d take the time to consider writing him for one of those seats…I mean...ya know…I’d have to see who else is running. But, sure, I’d keep an open mind...perhaps.

I haven't had a knock on my door trying to get me to vote for someone, here the politicians go around in noise trucks disturbing the peace. I guess they figure they cover more ground that way. They also give speeches outside the train stations so people can walk by and ignore them while the pol's little minions try to give you flyers (and yes they have even tried to give to me even though I don't look the least bit Japanese). They have all kinds of restrictions on TV ads, so ads are not done the same way here as in the US, which leads to campaigns being waged somewhat differently.
Not too long ago a drunk foreigner near here, I believe it was a Brit, walked up to a politician who was giving a speech by a train station and yanked his microphone away and yelled something like: "Japanese politicians are too noisy." Apparently he got into huge trouble over that, I guess that is a crime that is punishable with possible jail time.

I agree that it would have been nice to discuss the issues, but once he saw my reaction he just laughed and moved on. Guess I need to work on my poker face.
Also, my wife told me that she saw signs in town where the Democrats are hiring people to work on the campaign. So, I don't think this guy was a volunteer. He was probably just someone who needed extra money . . . so he can survive in the Obama economy.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to convert someone who was actually canvassing for Obama this close to the election. However, if you slow them down for a half an hour, you keep them from knocking on 5 more doors, at least.

I am still not entirely clear why they kept calling us, since we moved to North Carolina in 2006 and have a landline with a North Carolina area code, but if they were willing to pay for the call, I was willing to take it.

Each of the bullet points (with exception of the last) can only be measured by intention rather than outcome. The whole thing is just another take on the democrats=good/republicans=evil meme. They are killing us with this. Most of our politics is played between the 45 yard lines, yet the left has convinced many casual spectators that we're consistently on the 20.

Wait they were calling in the drone swarms from NC for a Wisconsin Election?
I'm sure that they got our landline number because at one point it had been linked to our (Wisconsin area code) cell numbers--although the companies were separated several years ago. So, yeah, not so bright. It wouldn't have been rocket science to realize that they were calling a North Carolina landline. But no one ever said they were bright, and we found the calls entertaining.

That's exactly what they do, in fact. It boils down to, "The stimulus creates jobs because our model says it creates jobs, a model which is based on the assumption that it creates jobs."

@Severely Ltd, the reference to Napoleon Dynamite is spot on! if memory serves, Pedro's full slogan was, "Vote for Pedro: he'll make all your wildest dreams come true."
That's amusing when a high school kid, in a movie, says it. But it's shocking and sad when a real political campaign's rhetoric becomes a case of life imitating art. And it's far worse when the real policies of a real president's administration operates that way as well.

"Killed Osama bin Laden". Imagine if Bush had political fliers going around, listing AQ bad guys he had "killed", or captured. Imagine the anguished howls of outrage that a president could run around the country, touting his "kills" so he could get re-elected. I guess in Big Boy Barry's world, declining to authorize the mission twice before authorizing it, then taking literal credit for a "kill", makes him, well, what, exactly? Presidential?
Imagine if progressives had both memories, and consciences.
