Burak Bekdil, an excellent Turkish columnist, is waiting for Prime Minister Erdoğan to use his much-vaunted influence over Iran on behalf of Sakineh Mohammedie Ashtiani:

We know by evidence that Mr. Erdoğan has a soft spot for Muslims being subjected to cruelty in all corners of the world, and Ms. Ashtiani is a Muslim lady. Besides, Ms. Ashtiani speaks Turkish, not Farsi; and perhaps Mr. Erdopan would view her as kin? Above all, Mr. Erdoğan has brotherly relations with Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who can pardon her.

That’s a great opportunity for Mr. Erdoğan to show everyone how much he cares about the plight of Muslims (and Turks) all around the world, that he can love Muslims other than Hamas-loving Palestinians too.

An observation: Your three posts today on the Middle East are stalled at a total of 4 comments; your one post on pets has 33 and counting. Pretty sure that's not a good thing.

I noticed that too, Scott. In the future I plan to lure our readers into a spirited discussion of the merits and demerits of the proposed Turkish constitutional reform package with photos of my five rescued kittens jumping adorably in and out of my laundry basket.

I'm trying to recruit additional members to Ricochet. This post is one of the examples being used to illustrate the high level of Ricochet content.

How does one address the Ricochet developers. I have a couple suggestions for them.
