I'm not sure if you've seen this yet.  It just popped across my screen.

It's a simple story, really.  Boy meets girl.  Boy and girl go out.  Boy breaks up with girl.

Snag: girl is a dentist.

From The Telegraph:

Anna Mackowiak, 34, is facing jail after taking her revenge on 45-year-old Marek Olszewski when he turned up at her surgery with toothache just days after breaking up with her.

She gave him a heavy dose of anaesthetic and plucked his teeth out.

She then wrapped his head and jaw in a bandage to stop him opening his mouth and said there had been complications and he would need to see a specialist.

The dentist, who works in Wroclaw, Poland, said: ‘I tried to be professional and detach myself from my emotions.

'But when I saw him lying there I just thought, "What a b******".'

Mr Olszewski said: 'I knew something was wrong because when I woke up I couldn’t feel any teeth and my jaw was strapped up with bandages.

So many questions.  Like, no other dentists you could go to?  Really?

I couldn't help but wonder when they quoted Mr. Olszewski...did he literally say that out loud or did he have to write it down for the interviewer?  Missing teeth and all...

I don't know. Something doesn't seem right to me.

The dentist works in Poland, and yet the 'victim'  says his first response was: "But when I got home I looked in the mirror and couldn’t f****** believe it. The b**** had emptied my mouth."

Do native Polish speakers use the F word? To themselves?

Maybe. I don't know. Doesn't sound right to me.

If true, she should go to prison for life. This is a horrible crime of mutilation. It does not matter that he dumped her. She violated the trust of a patient under her care in the most horrible way she could. She is an affront to her profession and all helping professions and her life should be ruined forever.

This is both horrifying and amusing.

I already have recurring dreams about my teeth falling out. This should just dump all kinds of new nightmare fuel on that fire.

I guess they haven't translated "Hell hath no fury . . . " into Polish yet.

Look on the bright side.  Suppose he'd gone to her for an emergency Speedo wax.

Good script for SAW IV. Could make an interesting twist. Ouch.

Good thing she wasn't a urologist.

"I'm not sure if you've seen this yet.  It just popped across my screen."

There is more in Rob's post that warrants serious analytical deconstruction than what I quoted, but I am stuck on that opening sentence. Those might be the words that describe the diabolical reality of life in the internet world as well as any.

Prior to the invention of the internet, the normal way one made a fool of himself was to write letters to the editor of the local paper. I used to do that a lot. In one letter, I sarcastically bemoaned the dangers of over-utilization of medical services created by the over abundance  of specialists in the medical field (there are really people who think an excess of medical specialists is a bad thing) and stated that I hoped there would never be a surplus of proctologists in my home town. Someone wrote back: There are so many a..holes is this town, there will never be a surplus of proctologists.

There was another odd  news item where a woman on a scooter had been challenged over a parking space. A row ensued and while her brothers pummeled the fellow, she grabbed the offening mans family jewels and crushed them. Poor man died in hospital. One never knows.

The dental event seems to fall more into the Urban Legend category.

Seems a fate that would befall Wylie Coyote.

Forgive me, but the story made me laugh.   I will go shun myself....because the story is not at all humorous.

If the dentist were male they would be charged with assault and go away to jail for a while, but since the dentist is female she will probably get an award, do the talk show circuit, write a best selling book describing how all males are pigs and become a spokesperson for a large feminist lobbying group.  The patient on the other hand will be ridiculed by all till the day they find him sitting in his car he accidently left running in his garage.

Banned from practicing dentistry ever again perhaps, but life in prison ? Come on - murderers don't get that in most of Europe.

What she did isn't all that much worse than the butchery NHS dentists in the UK have perpetrated for decades !

A bit of  jail time for assault maybe, and financial compensation....and pay for her ex to take a course in basic common sense....

She could plead temporary implantity. At least that might partially bridge her indentured future.

The term "Hilaristurbing" springs to mind.
