World's Greatest Violinist, or Why I Should Check My Mom's Facebook Page More Often
I don't usually check my mom's Facebook page, because all she usually posts are articles I've written (and I know what they say) and cute videos of my adorable nephew Leo (which I get directly from my brother, and by the way, did you know he can now speak English, Italian, and Haitian creole? Enough to express his serious trilingual interest in trucks, doggies, and Barney, anyway). But a random mom-missing impulse prompted me to check it a few minutes ago, and look what I wouldn't have seen if I hadn't!
Of course, I knew this had to go straight to Ricochet. The only problem was figuring out exactly why this had anything to do with politics--which I gather we're all here to discuss, or at least that's what they told me when they hired me.
I searched in vain for any sign that Baron Buika ever expressed a political opinion about anything. I was hopeful at least that he'd be an ardent anti-communist, since apparently he's Hungarian, but I could find nothing beyond this video to suggest he even exists. Or existed, maybe.
So, I give up, except to say that I'm sure that somehow Baron Buika is a further reason to favor private property, constitutional limitations on the powers of government, free markets, the rule of law and a strong national defense. And God Bless America.

This is simply amazing!! I watched it just after my 13-year-old finished practicing his violin (only 1, sadly). But if his (by the way, Hungarian) violin teacher taught him to play 2 at a time, I might be willing to pay double the lesson fee. What a money-maker he could be--for her as a student and for us as a novelty act! (Is that a good-enough link to free markets?)

As a fiddle player I can tell you a couple of things about this video. He's doing what Itzhak Perlman and Yo Yo Ma did at the 2008 Obama inauguration - he's bow syncing.

Bach's Chaconne, played by the best who ever recorded it: Henryk Szeryng. It's a little piece Bach wrote for his own enjoyment to play that just happens to be at the apex of Western music (along with a few other pieces, of course).
