With Thanks, and a Smile
From a light hearted post about good food, to Peter's celebration of family, football and collegiate rites of passage, to George Savage's inspiring story of what happens when good people are free to innovate and how they improve the lives of others, it's almost like a group of close friends tonight, relaxing, trading smiles and warming hearts. That's not to diminish in any way the very real and existential challenges we face, but rather to step back for a short time and put ourselves and our lives into some perspective.
I have a drive into the Rocky Mountains tomorrow, and so must get some rest. But if you don't mind, I'd like to share a smile first as my thanks to you, the good people of Ricochet, for your wisdom, your wit, your smiles, and your friendship. With that, just mix in some good music, a generous portion of perfect timing and comedic genius, and you get Victor Borge.

Re: With Thanks, and a Smile
Safe travels, Dave. Thanks for the Victor Borge link. He really is hilarious. A visual version of Jack Benny. (My husband and I have an odd habit of placing a little transistor radio under our pillow if we can’t sleep. Middle of the night is when you get the Jack Benny stuff.)
I especially appreciate your post because I get tangled with a group of far left women pretty regularly online. Tonight, instead of responding to them, I typed R in my browser and came right here to Ricochet. Not to be coddled or spoon fed, but to read intelligent posts and comments from people who I think accept and respect people despite/in spite of their thinking. So thanks for being right where you needed to be... right when I needed you to be there. lol.

Re: With Thanks, and a Smile
I treasure my early teen memories of seeing Victor Borge on the Broadway stage - a true virtuoso in every way. Thank you for this reprise.
Have fun in the Rockies, especially on the downhill runs (as it were).

Dave,
I don't know which is more moving, your graciousness or Autumn Leaves as performed by Victor Borge.

Dave, thanks for a little perspective and a smile. You're a class-act, and we're lucky to have you.
And welcome to the Rockies. It'll be sunny and 70 degrees tomorrow. By my estimation perfect weather, with views to match. Safe travels.

Safe travels, Dave. It may tie a record high here in Denver, so you should have great driving weather.
And, thank you for the link. It really made my morning.

Age changes perspective. When I was young I thought Borge's routines were boring. Now that I'm older they're great. What happened?

Re: With Thanks, and a Smile
You got older as we all do. I remember Victor Borge from my teen years in the 50s when he made an occasional appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Always a master of entertainment and I still enjoy him. Thanks for reviving a memory, Dave.
