Win-Win: Lose Power, Win A Beer
I just got back from the bar here in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. Things were going great at the bar until all of a sudden someone said we had to vacate within the next half hour. They'd earlier promised to stay upon until 4 AM. We walked home with absolutely no wind. But arrived to a roof that's already leaking and sagging. And the storm isn't really supposed to hit us for another several hours. So that's not a good sign.
In light of that, we're going to a friend's house. I'll update as I'm able!
I did make a bet with someone -- a beer -- about power loss. I say we're losing power. He says we're not. Either I win power and lose a beer or lose power and win a beer. We'll see how it goes.

Godspeed! You (and any Ricochet folks in the path of The Storm) stay safe - and I hope the damage doesn't get much worse!

Re: Win-Win: Lose Power, Win A Beer
That's not a roof, that's a ceiling; I was more concerned when I thought the roof was sagging. That's easily dealt ith; just poke a big hole in the drywall with a screwdriver or knife and let the water out! Otherwise, the water will puddle on top of the drywall ceiling and bring it all down. The water is going to come down, anyway, so it's best to save the ceiling, if you can, by putting a patchable hole in it.

What, so Andy Levy and SE Cupp didn't tweet you? They were at some bar watching NASCAR. I had hopes. OK, each one has only responded to me once ever, but you never know.

CJRun,
Thanks for the tip. Although it might be too late (We'll go check on it in a bit).
Woke up to sunny skies and the power on. Will wait until noon or after the worst of the storm passes to go survey the area ...
Just spoke to the husband who says that fewer people made it out to church today in Alexandria. He kept power on the whole time but did say a tree completely blocked one of the streets that intersects near our house.

Heh. They're in Manhattan. I was a million miles away in Brooklyn. But yes, I wouldn't mind surviving a storm in a bar with Andy Levy.
