Wikileaks and Guantanamo

Back when Obama the Candidate was telling the world that if elected, he would close Guantanamo, a friend of mine shook his head wearily and said, "On his first day in the White House, the men from Virginia will visit and explain who's in Guantanamo, and that will be the last we hear of that."
I've not yet had a chance to read these cables. (I'm always amazed by the speed of the instant analyses when these things are dumped--it took me a full month, almost full time, just to read the cables on Turkey.) But initial reports suggest my friend had it about right.

Re: Wikileaks and Guantanamo
Your friend did turn out to be right Claire in spite of his proclamations. Truth not genius has a way of determining reality.
Your post made me think that most everything President Obama promised during the election hasn't materialized but the things he couldn't promise and win on have.
