Why Oslo?

Mullah Krekar is the first thing to come to my mind, and no, it's not irresponsible to speculate at this stage. It's irresponsible to ignore that.
I understand that CNN is covering Casey Anthony. Fox is covering the explosion, which is why it's important that Fox be comprehensively investigated.
If I sound like I've had it, I have.

Re: Why Oslo?
[Update: 10:16 ET, 4:16 p.m. Oslo] At least one of the explosions happened near some government buildings, said Walter Gibbs, a journalist with Reuters. He said he saw eight injured people, including two or three with serious wounds and one who looked dead. Reuters reported that the prime minister was safe.
[Update: 10:11 a.m. ET, 4: 11 p.m Oslo] A second blast was heard in central Oslo shortly after an initial explosion rocked the city, a reporter for Norwegian state broadcaster NRK told CNN Friday. Linda Reinholdsen said there was a state of confusion in the city and several government buildings were affected.
[10 a.m. ET, 4 p.m. Oslo] An explosion rocked a part of central Oslo, Norway, on Friday, state TV reported. State TV broadcaster NRK said on its website that windows in several buildings had been blown out and people were in the street bleeding. News reports suggest the government building has been affected.

You never know: Mullah Krekar might've been so upset over Casey Anthony's acquittal that he…
Oh, to hell with it: CNN sucks.

Re: Why Oslo?
I was meeting with some associates and a Turkish businessman in Istanbul in 2005. Making small talk I mentioned a story about a Swedish town which was experiencing lots of assaults on the elderly. From the story I had read, the perps were Turkish immigrant youths, all living on welfare, the town was Malmo ( maybe). The Turk was irate and reflexively (it appeared) and instantly said that was wrong, it was the Kurds that were to blame. Malmo has since become a flashpoint of antisemitism, although that could have been the real story in '05 and under-reported by whatever Euro news service.
Is this a standard response from most Turks ? Do you ever feel that reflex welling up when the subject arises ? Do you think it's objective.
The Kurds that I have met have all been from the Iraqi side and I can't say that I wasn't impressed by their guts and their wits to be able to stay alive, even thrive in the face of what had happened there. They say the Kurds' only friends are the mountains. Is that fate deserved ?
So what drives violence most effectively ? Historical memory, DNA, ......??
Re: Why Oslo?
I'm trying to decide whether it's responsible to speculate beyond pointing out what I did. I think probably it isn't, so I'm going to refrain from it for now.

Re: Why Oslo?
From NRK.No (Google translation)
Several unexploded bombs
- You can not go through here, because there are still two bombs we do not know where is, police on site to Aftenposten.no reporters.
NRK.no do not know anything more about the circumstances of these bombs.
There have been reports of another explosion in Parliament Street, but it is not true. According to NRK reporter at the site was only broken glass that had fallen out.

Re: Why Oslo?
Hopefully many residents were out of the city on their summer holidays. I pray for those harmed and their families, and desperately try to restrain myself from a knee-jerk reaction against Islam. Since living through the London bombings of 2005, I am much less charitable towards Muslim fundamentalists of all castes.
Alas Scandinavia has now lost its innocence forever.

Re: Why Oslo?
Can we be sure it wasn't a diversion by Rupert Murdoch? Or David Cameron?
Most likely it was a bomb placed by agnostic young "south Asian" men (cleverly dressed in native dress and yelling "Allahu Akbar").

Re: Why Oslo?
If a tactical nuke had been used on OBL’s compound immediately after 9/11 the world would have fewer problems than we do today. Thugs, religious and secular respect one thing, power.

Re: Why Oslo?
Forget Mullah Krekar.
Hamas wants to put a stake through the heart of the "peace process" to throw Fatah off-balance (since the ballyhooed reconciliation of the two factions has gone tango uniform). What better way than to bomb the city whose very name symbolizes the "breakthrough" between the PLO and Israel?

17.19 Police in Norway are also now dealing with a gunman shooting at people in a political youth camp on Utoya Island. Utoya Island is roughly 20 miles north-west of Oslo. Police reports suggest that a man disguised as a police officer began opening fire.
17.28 Sky News is reporting that people are apparently swimming of Utoya Island to try and get to safety.

17.33 People are reportedly phoning from Utoya saying they are benig shot at. Multiple ambulances being sent to the site. The alleged shooter was dressed as a police officer. It looks suspiciously like it might be one of those white men that Ms Incompetano warned us about, only yesterday - A Timothy McVeigh wannabe.

Re: Why Oslo?
17.53 There has been speculation as to how many explosions there were in Oslo. This video captured on a mobile phone would appear to suggest there were in fact two.

Re: Why Oslo?
This may account for the shooter at the Utoya Youth Camp
17.45 More on reports that Mr Stoltenberg was due to appear at the meeting on Utoya Island. The BBC has been told that Mr Stoltenberg was in fact due to speak tomorrow. Former prime minister Gro Harlem Brundtland was the key speaker today.

Re: Why Oslo?
This "second explosion" is a fake. There is no movement in the frame apart from the explosion itself despite there being a number of people in the frame. They would have reacted in some way to the explosion. Also, the effects are (at least to my eyes) quite suspect and thirdly the uploader has two other youtube vids and both have to do with visual effects.

Re: Why Oslo?
The left is already trying to build the meme that this was a neo-nazi attack. Frankly, until evidence is found or a credible claim of credit for the attack made, no one knows jack right now.

18.03 Will McCants now says that Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami (Helpers of Global Jihad) seem to make a claim of responsibility. They claim it is in response to the occupation of Afghanistan and insults to the Prophet Mohammed. It has come via Shmukh, an elite jihadi forum
