If you're not already a member of Ricochet -- which grants you full access to our Member Feed -- you're missing out. I offer as exhibit A this passage from a post just put up there by longtime member Tabula Rasa, breaking down last night's vice presidential debate:

"Debate" may be the wrong term. It wasn't so much a debate as an insane conversation between an elderly drunk and his polite nephew.

If you laughed at that -- and agreed with it -- then you're probably doing yourself a disservice by not being a member.

Indeed!

I not only read that and loved it, I stole the line a few minutes ago, talking with someone about the debate.

That's why I love Ricochet.  So much great material to steal.

Um, I mean, enjoy.

All the super smart folks here.  Plus I like it when Rob steals my jokes because I steal everyone's jokes  here.

I know it's not fair to say it,  given I don't know the man personally.

But........ I believe much of Biden's peculiar behavior can be explained by the fact that he may very well be an Alcoholic.

I have been around Alcoholics (family and friends) of the Irish Catholic Variety my whole life and now find I have become somewhat of an expert in Alcoholic Spotting.

I look forward to (a retired)Joe Biden's nationally televised Step 9 to the American people.

Troy, I heartily agree with you.

Watching the debate last night was exhausting.  I consoled myself with the lively discussion on Ricochet and that comment of Tabula Rasa's was one of my favorites, as was James of England's about how hard it is to look presidential when co-starring with an orangutan.

Tabula Rasa is a gem of a member  and my best post from him was last month as he asked what was going on in Libya. He pointed out that Hillary Clinton looked like a drowned rat. He saw something very off with the situation far before the main stream media, and now we know why.

My son is just starting to study John Locke at university and he said, "John Locke has his theory about the human mind as a blank slate."

I said, "Tabula Rasa."

He said, "Isn't that the guy you talk about on Ricochet?"

Thanks for highlighting my line.  I appreciate it.  I'm enjoying my 15 minutes.

I'd like to claim some great literary talent.  When I was young, I actually had an elderly great-uncle (ironically, his name was Joe), who would often get drunk and then pay my family a visit.  As I watched the debate, Biden reminded me of my Uncle Joe:  loud, boorish, and irrational (the only thing missing was an F-bomb every other sentence).

So, no great literary talent.  Just reporting the facts.

Well I'll brag for you then my LDS amigo.  Your stuff and a few others had me hooked  here.    Quite simply, this place has the best writing on the internet as well as some of the most decent conservative folks on the planet.  I had not worked on writing for 25 years and thought to myself that if I was playing around here  some talent might get to me by osmosis.

I am not here for the stars, the podcasts, or recognition.  I am here to better myself in multiple ways around people I respect.

I often use my tenuous connection with Rob Long "big shot Hollywood producer" (to quote Mark Steyn) to score free drinks at watering holes far and wide.

Once Ricochet is spinning profits, I look forward to forwarding a scanned image of the bar tab for settlement. No need to thank me.

I stumbled across this site during a slow patch at my drudge desk job this morning. Several comments later and I'm already hooked. Ricochet is the biggest breath of intellectual fresh air...

Welcome aboard, Dan.  TR can be addictive, but he is one of many.  And TR would be the first to agree.

This is the entire Ricochet business plan, in a nutshell.

"....an insane conversation between an elderly drunk and his polite nephew."

Thankfully, they're not related. If it were true it would be as bad as Luke finding out who his real father was.

Dan you are very welcome here!

I just read Dave Carter's A Letter to Joe Biden and cannot resist the urge to quote him here --   "Watching Congressman Ryan try to respectfully engage you in thoughtful discourse was like watching Emily Post try to take a gorilla to tea."
