Russell Brand advocates the socialist revolution. He cannot give details of how it would come about, but the aims are all too familiar...no more profit, massive wealth distribution, massive taxes on corporations, save the Earth, feed the poor!
Who will lead the new order? How will they be chosen? What are the steps to achieving it? Do we get rid of democracy? He can't answer- he's just a comedian (the Stewart-Colbert defense). What will it look like? He can't answer.. no one's thought of this new system yet (the Michael Moore defense).
His ideas are not new at all. This is nothing but rehashed marxism. These are progressive ideas that are more than a century old. Note his religious zeal, his anger, his aggression at the end when he states that he will "take" what is his.
Lack of self- awareness. I would think that perhaps we might start by confiscating Mr. Brand's considerable wealth and leaving him with the average wage of, say, a train station cleaner in West Ealing (surely that's enough to get by), while giving the rest of his money to build pit latrines in the Congo. There.. lead by example Mr. Brand.... but you won't, you hypocrite.
What is it that makes celebrities like Brand disproportionately tack to the political left?
