Thank the maker....no Yankees!

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
Fox Sports Nightmare. Only thing that could have been worse was Twins-Reds.

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
Will that make this the First World Series to be played completely outside the United States?
Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
I don't know if my ticker can withstand more SF Giants bottom-of-the-ninth nail-biters. But I'm sure to find out.

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
Oh. Are they still playing baseball? As far as our family is concerned the season ended last night.

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
Not just baseball PJS, incredible, gut wrenching, nail-biting, legend-making baseball. You may not care about the teams but if you love the game, this will be great.

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
Any chance Dubya can throw out the first ball in SF? On principle I'm rooting for the Rangers, sorry 'bout dat George. I just thought of something, if Rothstein can fix the World Series maybe we can fix it so Carl Rove umps the opener in Frisco. I wanna see lefty heads exploding.

We are gracious and apolitical hosts. OK we did just have the Dead sing that national anthem and a transvestite sing God Bless America... but you know we're just regular folks...

Prediction: Cliff Lee will be the World Series MVP.

As I've often said, the only sports that interest me are the ones that can kill me.

Trace, of course I will watch, but I can't say I will care one way or the other. Baseball IS a beautiful thing. Note to Busy System Admin: quote function does not work on iPad.

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
The Giants are all heart and determination and hard work and I love the lesson they give my kids. The highest paid player hasn't played post-season and likely won't play in the Series:

They're old and young, from everywhere in the country (and out of the country), they never say no when they're asked to play and always play hard. It would have been great to play against (and beat) the Yankees, but I'll have the satisfaction of knowing that if the Rangers do end up winning -- well -- that won't be so bad either.

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
As a friend of many fans of the Giants I am rooting for the G-men to lose game seven in an "EPIC" fashion. Then I can mock my friends about losing in 010, 02 and 87. With a friend like me who needs enemies.

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
As a lifelong Toronto Blue Jays fan, I am heartbroken that Roy Halladay won't be getting his shot to pitch on the big stage. Not many have worked as hard as him to get there.
As a baseball player myself who had dreams of making it there one day, watching Aubrey Huff hold back tears knowing that he was finally going to play in a world series was touching.

You must mean 89. The Cardinals lost in the 1987 series.

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
I was busy listening to New Yorkers lament the Yankees loss, but before I knew it, my wife calling to say that North Beach was going crazy after the Giants win. I absolutely cannot wait! Go Giants!
And can ya not make it such a nailbiter, guys?

Re: Who's Ready For the World Series?
I think he's referring to the '87 NLCS. My beloved Cardinals beat the Giants in seven, paced by the sainted Jose Oquendo's unlikely home run. We went on to lose the World Series in seven to the Twins (who should have awarded the MVP to the Metrodome employee responsible for manipulating the air conditioning so as to create a howling indoor gale toward center field that only seemed to blow in the bottom half of each inning). Not that I'm bitter.
At least we had the satisfaction of dumping 12 ounces of St. Louis's finest on Jeffrey Leonard.

My, my. Losing does tend to bring this out, doesn't it?
The Twins have been making amends since then by being swept in the post-season over and over again.
