Where Do We Listen?
I recall a previous post asking "What do we all do?" My question is "where do we all listen to the Ricochet podcasts? I usually save mine up for a walk on the beach, but if that's not possible due to weather, kids' sport and normal family life, it gets relegated to my daily 75km train commute from Geelong to Melbourne Australia. Today was a beach day - a beautiful winter's day in 17 degrees celsius - I walked from Torquay to Bells Beach and back. Perfect.

Usually during my daily commute on BART.

Re: Where Do We Listen?
I listen while I walk my dog or hike in the hills of Marin County.
People usually give me wide berth, as I guffaw, especially when I'm listening to Steyn/Goldberg/Long.
Naughty boys.

Re: Where Do We Listen?
Cleaning up the house, washing dishes, etc. after the kids go to bed. It's the only time I don't have to be particularly alert to their screams.

Biking to work and back. Every time I laugh my carbon footprint doubles.

Re: Where Do We Listen?
In the gym, in the car, doing the laundry/dishes/housework. Kenneth, I laugh too. A lot. And it takes a lot to make me laugh out loud.

Building wooden wall clocks. I usually wait until the hand sanding stage, laughing through the dust mask.
Tiger, I'm envious of your walk to Bells Beach. That place has loomed large in my imagination at least since the 1970 World Contest (surfing), if not before. I still nourish a faint hope I'll get down there at some point. And Winkipop! Definitely on of the great names for a surf break.

It's a magic place; I only recently summoned the courage to surf winki, at the urging of my 13 yo son, who of course, knows no fear. The day we went out was real quiet, real small, and real good. :) I like the podcast/woodwork combination, too, it fits with one of other hobbies.

Re: Where Do We Listen?
A walk to Bells is one thing, but saying you surfed perfect small Winkipop is just punishing. Have a little mercy.
Maybe someday.

Re: Where Do We Listen?
At work. I grab every podcast I can find and listen to 7-8 hours of podcast every day.

Re: Where Do We Listen?
The car is my favorite. Makes the time actually useful, though I'm sure other drivers think I'm insane with my maniacal efforts to duplicate Jonah's laugh.
I can't listen in the presence of my wife, who really does think I'm nuts when I burst out in laughter for no readily apparent reason. My dogs are more understanding.
Bad for the grocery store. A ten minute shopping trip turns into an hour because I keep getting distracted while I listen and spend 12 minutes staring at the tomato sauce.

Re: Where Do We Listen?
At home, I'll fire up a game of chess or solitaire and listen to the podcasts as they come out from my La-Z-Boy.
On the road, they are a great way to pass the time in your hotel room before bed.
Re: Where Do We Listen?
I listen while I run on the treadmill or at the beach. I run longer than I normally would just so that I can get the whole podcast in.

While working in my office at home. Since I am self-employed it's only my own time I am stealing. ;-)

Treadmill, also. And since it's in the same room as the computer, no earphones needed!

Oh Lordie, I listen in my drab, windowless academic office in the basement of the med. school building. Nice view of a block wall painted a nice eggshell color....

I listen at work. I've several podcasts I listen to through iTunes, all working together to guarantee I am deaf by the time I'm in my eighties.

From Bend, Oregon, my husband and I listen on my Mac laptop in bed after lights-out. Due to sleep interludes, it may take two nights to get through one, which keeps us going through them more slowly...There are never enough new ones up for me.

On airplanes. I download the files to my blackberry while I am waiting to board and then I can listen during the trip. This week from Orange County to Houston I listened to the Ricochet podcast, Law Talk, and about half of Hinderaker Ward

Re: Where Do We Listen?
The podcasts are perfect for my workouts on a Concept2 rowing machine. I focus on the dialogue while enjoying a long, stress-relieving workout.
But if the podcasts last longer than I'm rowing that day, I can't listen and count my reps on free weights and machines - and so in those cases I have to come back and finish the podcasts later.

I listen at work when I'm on my computer. I find I have to listen to each podcast a couple of times as I miss some of interesting parts.
