What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
We might as well figure these out now before too many opportunities are lost. My latest came when I explained to a colleague that the word "Forward" on the EJ Hill sheep-over-the-cliff photoshop on my file cabinet referred to Obama. It was a perfect opportunity to make the case but I shanked it.
Having turned it over a few times, I have to admit, my pitch is more anti-Obama than pro-Romney but I think that still works.
To me, the core argument is that Obama just doesn't know how an economy grows. My guess is that he has never concerned himself too deeply with the question - he has just taken it as a given. As proof, what has he done in the last 12 months to fix the problem? Unemployment continues over 8%, and he has absolutely no idea what to do about it.

Re: What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
We've had a Mr. [expletive] it.
The pitch I'm still working on for my precinct letter "What kind of country do you want to be living in come 2022? What kind of country do you want to leave for your children and grandchildren?" It's not hard then to make the case that the economy and big government will get worse under a 2nd Obama term. Then comes the task of convincing the listner that things will get better under Romney.

Re: What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
dittoheadadt: Clandesteyn has it right, IMHO. For 2 years I had a NOBAMA license plate, and whenever someone in a parking lot or gas station challenged me on it (which, admittedly, was rare), I would ask them "tell me 3 things he's done that you think are good for America."
That pretty much shut them up. They weren't looking for a debate, because they weren't equipped for a debate. I'd treat elevator riders the same way. Put them on the spot. Challenge them with questions. I've got a growing list of questions that I put to Libs that serves as my "rebuttal" to whatever the topic may be. They either ignore the questions or the thread/conversation ends then and there.
But they know damned well that they don't know the answers. That matters...
What's the response when the replies are OBL, ACA, and two SCOTUS picks. There are Lefties who are actually proud of that garbage and would actually say-so if put on the spot. The last two things would take one heck of an elevator ride to perform some political Judo with.

Re: What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
I just want a candidate that says he won't seek a direct fix but will instead offer that he would take every measure to get himself [and the rest of the political class] the heck out of the way [through the power of veto, if he must].

For me, the core argument against putting Obama back in is the weapons that went across the Mexican boarder. (I think Ann Coulter is right about the intention behind this.) Second, the assault on religious freedom.

If you are looking for material, the new tumblr site is a good start. http://romneyresponse.tumblr.com/
I try not to pitch in elevators. I wait for people to tell me what their angle is before turning the argument.
In a pinch, I would have to say that Romney is the lesser evil - because I support free markets over central planing.

Re: What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
I was standing in line at a grill yesterday with my 9 yr old son and his friend. The 65 yr old woman behind me had a 2012 pin with the 0 all hopey changed. I began lecturing my son a bit loudly about how I've known the owners for 17 years and how they worked so very hard and took amazing risks to make this work. Then I said to both fourth graders, " so did the government build this business or did the owners?". The owners, duh dad that's easy. Then I asked," should they keep their hard earned money or have the government give it to people that don't work?" As the kids said of course the owners should keep the money the lady and her hen pecked looking hubby were quite aware I was playing with them. Now I had them where I wanted them. I hit my boy up for the winner," So who wants to steal everybody's money?" Faster than you can say fair share the kid spits out," Barack Obama and the government". The woman is churning while I say, "good boy, now go get yourself a soda". Time to fight people.

"I trust Mitt Romney to be able to do what he says he is going to do. I'm not the first to do so. In fact, many people have over the last 40years - and Romney has proven over and over again that he delivers on what he says he will.
I disliked and distrusted John McCain in 2008, and took a chance on Barack Obama. Many people did. And look what we got.
You draw the curtain and vote for who makes sense to you. I've told you who I'll be voting for."

Re: What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
Once again, the point of view is that Obama would right the economy if he only understood how to do so. After all the evidence is in, it's apparent that he is hell bent on tearing down our capitalist ecomony and rendering it fertile ground for his socialist agenda. People, he is not stupid! He is emplementing his agenda, but his timing is a bit off and hopefully he won't get a second term to inflict more damage. Quit trying to be fair and open minded; he isn't.

Re: What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
@Thomas #37: I agree, Obama is not dumb. No person can get to be POTUS without being very smart and if there is something he does not understand some of the brightest people in their fields of expertise are readily available to help him to understand. He does not understand the economy because he does not care to. He has other goals in mind that are more important to him, goals he must achieve in the short time he has available to him. The economy is only an issue in that it hinders his goals. His answer to it is to rev up it with stimulus money and liquidity until he is reelected and achieves his goals. Anybody who has read his books can tell that he focuses on his own perceptions and ignores any info that conflicts with them. Maybe in that he is like most of the population since it describes how he got elected.

Re: What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
My pitch: I think Romney just might have the potential to be a great president. Ronald Reagan was, I think, a great President for America. But, before he was elected his future was anything but clear. But Reagan was a man of great moral character and courage. I think Romney is that same kind of man. He has proven his abilities in the private sector, in the Olympics, and in government. Greatness is more a moral quality than anything else. I believe Romney has it.

Re: What's Your Romney Elevator Pitch?
Surely we've got to put aside the committed Obama voter (those wearing pins or who would, out of principle, defend PPACA or his justices) and focus on a genuine independent--the guy or gal who got caught up in Obama-hype four years ago, is generally dissatisfied with the way things stand now, but doesn't really fully trust the Right or follow politics super-closely and doesn't hold highly ideological (or highly coherent) policy views.
The pitch to that person, and we've seen it before, is basically this:
Are you optimistic about America's future seeing the things you see today? Are you better of today then you were 4 years ago?
If the answers are no, then you've got it in your power to be part of the solution and enact a change for the better. If the current guy can't get it right in 4 years, why are you willing to sign him up for 4 more?
