What is the World Coming To?
My guilty pleasure each morning, site-visit-wise, is checking the Daily Mail site.
Today, I was rewarded with two gems. First, I was delighted to see that Lady Gaga, while being interviewed by Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes (!), was refused entry to her old apartment in New York City. I took joy in Gaga's comeuppance. I'm sure we'd all love to go back and visit our old apartments/childhood homes. But showing up at the door in your underwear with television cameras? Really!?
As a side note, I wonder if Anderson is hoping that those dust-ups in Egypt will turn him into someone we should take seriously.
Then, the Mail also has a photo of Meryl Streep as Thatcher. Pretty impressive.

Especially charmed by Streep's admiring description of the Baroness. Getting into the role, I guess.
The Times is read by the people who run the country, the Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country, the Guardian is read by people who think the country should be run by another country, and the Telegraph is read by people who think it already is. Sun readers don't care who runs the country, as long as she's got, ahem, well, anyway.
You don't, by any chance, write letters to the Daily Mail, do you?

Nothing like a little Fry and Laurie to brighten the morn. Thanks, Kennedy.
Too bad my husband doesn't run this country or any other. Maybe I'd be able to afford a haircut. You know, at a place other than Supercuts.

Re: What is the World Coming To?
On visiting your old apartment, from 1965-1967 I lived in a 2-room curbside apartment a couple blocks off Queen street in Lancaster, PA. Those were wonderfully happy times and on a recent visit I showed my wife where I used to live. It had not changed a bit. The front window happened to have the shades drawn so I could stand on the sidewalk and see in. It looked the same as I had left it. You’d think I had moved out yesterday.
My boyhood home in Cheyenne, WY also is pretty much the same as it was when I lived there in the 1950’s.
Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

Re: What is the World Coming To?
Coming soon to a theatre near you: Andie Macdowell in a role sure to attract Oscar nominations. Andie plays famous author Claire Berlinski as Claire battles writers block in a do or die effort to get "There is No Alternative: Why Margaret Thatcher Matters" to her publishers in time for its pre-Christmas release. In a telephone interview hosted by Ricochet.Com Andie told us that she prepared for the role of Claire Berlinski by spending a weekend in Turkey getting the crap kicked out of her in a gym populated by men who would not say the n-word for fear of incurring Claire's wrath. It is rumoured that Meryl Streep, reprising her turn as Margaret Thatcher, will be featured in a series of cameos. As we at All Turkey All the Time understand, Ms. Streep will appear as the haunting ghost of conservatism past that sends Claire into fits of ennui, because there's just no point now that Mrs. Thatcher is out of the game. In a shameless appeal to Tea Party American, Sarah Palin will make an appearance as the ghost of Conservatism yet to be.
