That's the question my husband asked on Twitter. Here's the story:

Thousands of low-income Planned Parenthood of Indiana patients were left fending for themselves Tuesday to pay for birth control, breast exams, Pap tests and other medical services while a court battle continued over a new state law that eliminated the organization's Medicaid funding.

Don't worry. The missing word did show up. In the eighth paragraph. Word 320. I'm sure most readers got to that point after deciding that Gov. Mitch Daniels was a major league jerk. I guess they had to cut the part of the story explaining that patients could still be seen at facilities that don't make $1 billion a year by, among other things, being the country's largest abortion provider.

"Planned Parenthood sued the state May 10, arguing that the de-funding measure is unconstitutional and violates federal law."

Anyone have any idea where this comes from? I can't remember any clause or amendment in the constitution that guarantees funding for Planned Parenthood. Perhaps our founding fathers were clairvoyant and wrote that one in invisible ink?

I am with Buck above.  When I see stuff like that I feel like I must be taking crazy pills.  I mean, "nope, sorry my funding is constitutionally mandated."

BTW they worked hard to leave out abortion and almost got through it.  It is all about birth control pills.  I also like the quotes "Gee, how will I get them if the government does not pay?  "Life is sure hard!"

What is interesting in the article are the comments. Most people point out that Planned Parenthood isn't the only dispenser of birth control within the Medicaid system.  I like the most obvious: how about go to a local pharmacy that accepts Medicaid.  Very little sympathy towards Planned Parenthood in this fight.

From the article: "The Ivy Tech Community College student from Indianapolis who is pursuing a physical therapy degree said she's not sure how she'll pay for her birth control."

Why, again, am I paying for this woman's birth control?

Would Gov Daniels have cut abortion funding for Planned Parenthood if he wasn't running for president?

Considering he's not running, I'd say that's a pretty obvious, "Yes."
