Taking a few days of down time from the road, I notice more and more reports of the President, Vice President, and even Senator Kerry (D - France) scolding the liberal base for their restless impatience. I keep asking, what are they impatient about? What more do they want? Perhaps a few of the lurkers from the left will be kind enough to explain. The government has stimulated the economy into a virtual death spiral. They own a large part of the automobile and financial industries. Freedom is on the decline at home even as our enemies gather strength abroad. Sounds like a liberal nirvana to me, so why the long faces? What more do you want? How many more regulations and taxes do you require? How much more private property must you gobble up? How many businesses must you kill before you're satisfied? How high must the unemployment rate go to quench your thirst for government dependence? When do you stick a fork in this bloated government rump roast and call it done?

Control, power, a Babel-esque monument attesting to their greatness, and to be loved and adored for their terrible greatness.

Alternatively, they are probably just ill from drinking too much koolaid.

But then, what do I know. I am unable to comprehend the enlightenment of my betters.

"Why are they impatient...what more do they want?" For the likes of you and this website to shut up, I am afraid.

Jim, you'd think that telling us what kind of lightbulbs we can use, what kind of cars we can drive, even how much water our toilets are allowed to flush, in conjunction with health insurance mandates and the enforced defenselessness of our sovereign borders would make them positively ecstatic, right?

Ragnarok, in other words, unquestioned obedience. That one will be tricky, as King George learned.

A lefty buddy of mine was bashing the Prez the other day as being "ineffective." He pointed to DADT still not repealed, two years to withdraw troops from Iraq, ineffective stimulus (something libs detest more than I thought they would), and a laughingstock in the halls of world leaders. It kinda sounded like he was mad at Congress, and Obama was tainted by association. We had a lot of the same arguments for ineffectiveness: two years in the US Senate, no governing or private sector experience, cluelessness on how the average guy makes his milk money, agreement that Romney would have been a better administrator. I rarely hear lefties bash Obama for substantive reasons; they're almost always practical. That's why, though November 2 will be a night of drink and dance, I'm still thinking it'll be more of a "save gas money/bike tires/Croc and Toms soles" day than a great awakening, a least with the younger crowd.

Rob, these are your 2012 Hilary voters.

Of course, but we don't "love and adore" them for it. They want us to see and acknowledge them for their "brilliance." They want to be "right". And the fact that we are not bowing down gets under their skin.

In the leftist chant mode, what do they want? What they want is a fair society.

When do they want it? Now!

That means government/union control over lending and spending and a planned economy. Now.

That includes taxing to death industries that they do not like and subsidizing their dream jobs, especially in the energy sector. They want cap and trade. Now.

They want a government subsidized, union run "green energy" industry, created now. They don't care if the technology has caught up their vision or not. If you want electric cars, mandate them. Now.

Progressives hate the ObamaCare step process. They want the insurance industry shut down now and a single-payer government plan in place now.

Ask John F. Kerry about how ignorant the voters are. They want everyone who stands in their way re-educated. Now.

November, natch. The nutroots like to call themselves The Reality-Based Community. Kim Jong Il likes to pretend he's in charge of a Democratic People's Republic.

Ok Dave , the toilet comment really got it ! Having done a remodel on a vac house, the new toilets are really sad affairs. Flush twice to clear bowl doesn't seem to be printed anywhere, but it's necessary.

Now on to the news: liberals don't have any way of showing joy or accomplishment. Other than a self-satisfied smugness that passes quickly as the next piece of unfinished tasks comes to mind. (Humm... we got rid of the smoking, but what about the carbon dioxide ? Time to ban plants !)

Here's a fiver to anyone who can dig up a picture of a commie smiling, and over dead bodies doesn't count !

EJHill, and my little 1 year-old grandson wants his chicken nuggets and juice, now. So we're dealing with people who have the political maturity of a toddler, and the disposition of the playground bully. So naturally, no amount of control will ever be enough.

During the campaign, the President promised his supporters a transformation of America. He hasn't delivered (thankfully). A "savior" who doesn't deliver tends to lose his appeal.

But they feel that they have been way too patient as it is. In their minds all of this should have happened years ago. The election of Barack Obama was the moment when the American electorate finally saw the wisdom of the progressive agenda. They expected the opposition to roll over and the revolution would begin! After all, didn't Obama promise that the old ways of Washington fade away? You know those old things like democracy, the free enterprise system, etc.

A lot of them are angry that we're even talking about tax cuts. They're angry that Guantanamo is still running (though not as angry as they would have been under a President McCain). They're angry that the healthcare bill, groaning debacle though it was, wasn't a single-payer national health service, and so they're still going to have to hear it from that smug Euro in their circle of friends.

Wait, there's chicken nuggets and juice?!? Why wasn't I told about this?!

Yes, I think what liberals really want is some kind of socialist utopia now, and by golly, the opposition should have just seen the light after the 2008 elections and just meekly fallen in line.

Wylee, ...and pickles. But you'll have to get through my grandson and my daughter. Good luck with that.

The DADT issue always bewilders me. Suddenly a group normally associated with the Left wants to join the military? How did that happen? Don't they want all the wars to end? Why do they want to join up all of a sudden? Though the military is government-run, I'd hardly call it an entitlement program.

As for what they want, EJHill has said it all.

In governmental institutions there are only so many things you can do to screw up an organization from the outside. Get on the inside, however, and you can make a real pig's breakfast of the whole thing!

I think the answer lies in simple economics; balancing unlimited wants (Utopia) against limited means (votes). The left has achieved all their votes will bear and they are furious that Utopia remains far afield in the sunny uplands of the future.

If only we would put unlimited power into the right hands (theirs), everything would be just fine. But even then, they wouldn't be able to agree on which version of Utopia to implement and they would still be stymied and upset.
