What Does Hillary Know -- and What Is She Telling Us?
Of all the outrages that have happened since the murder of our ambassador in Benghazi, the worst has been the lack of candor from the Administration. Thus far attention has focused on Susan Rice, Ambassador to the U.N., and Jay Carney, the president's press secretary. In the face of the obvious, these two people depicted the attack on our diplomatic post as a random drive-by that was the result of some video no one in Libya has ever seen.
At a closed-door briefing for Senators on Thursday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was asked about what went down. Republicans emerged from that hearing saying she told them nothing; their irritation was only exacerbated when they opened up up the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal to find timelines that seemed to have more detail than they did.
It also strikes me that not a single reporter in this country seems to have coverred the funeral for Ty Woods, one of the two ex-Navy SEALS who fought back and were killed. If they did, they didn't report on what was said there. At the website Blackfive, someone who attended reports that the fallen SEAL's widow, Dorothy, said this: "To all the Operators here today I give you this charge: Rid the world of those savages. I'll say it again, RID THE WORLD OF THOSE SAVAGES!" Certainly seems newsworthy to me.
It's likely we will not know basic facts about what happened until after the election, because an administration that for days denied it was a terrorist attack is not inclined to give us those details. When I spoke with Larry Kudlow this morning on his radio show, he rightly wondered why no one is calling for Susan Rice's resignation for her false and misleading remarks. Why indeed.
