Quite a few eyebrows were raised over the decision of the Presidential Debate Commission on Commissioning Presidential Debates and Commissions (or whatever it's called) to schedule the final battle* opposite Monday Night Football. Now, after the infuriating meltdowns of Lance Lynn and Chris Carpenter in sequential games, the Cards will also be playing for their lives* tonight. I, for one, need a little bit of a break before we start the final push to election day and will probably spend most of my time on the baseball game**. What will you all be watching?

*Note to liberals: "battle" and "playing for their lives" are used figuratively in this post; no suggestion of actual violence is being made.

**Watching Obama try to explain Stephanie Cutter and Susan Rice is very, very tempting.

Watching Obama explain what he will be flexible about after the elections with Putin will hopefully come up.

I will watch Ricochet's twitter feed.

 Bingo.

The wonder of the modern data-sphere is that I do not have to choose. I'll have one eye on game seven, a smart phone tuned to MNF and a gleeful eye scanning the twitter feeds.

How can it get any better for a sports/political/drama junkie?

The debate, even though it will be 3 AM here.

(I watched the VP debate even though the Steelers played at the same time.)

Days like this are why God gave us DVD.

Game 7 carries greater urgency. Win or go home. Go Cards.

I think I'll watch Da Bears maul the Lions.  I'm on baseball hiatus until Wednesday.

When the Giants and the Cardinals play we Reds fans (a broken lot) cheer for neither. We just pray an asteroid hits the stadium.

I'm hoping that the 4th inning (when the  Giants usually score 4 or 5 unearned runs) is over before the debate starts.

Much like everybody else above, I'll be watching sports and following the debate on Twitter. I can never keep up with Twitter, though, so I'm inevitably 15-20 minutes behind.

Football, with occasional turns over to baseball for me.

Trace, what is wrong with you!? Maybe the most egregious violation of the CoC I've ever seen.

CW, we need to find some common ground but it won't be baseball. I was born in St. Louis with family and in-laws still there, raised in Colorado so you can guess which NL West team I have the misfortune of pulling for. (also, does the fact that I'm a passionate Rockies fan explain some of my pessimism in other areas?)

Glad to see I'm not alone. Watching Molina, Jay, and (I hope?) Holliday send the Giants home tonight has a lot more appeal than drinking my way through 90 minutes of Obama saying, "Let me be clear, dead Americans are not optimal [for my reelection chances]."

My first live baseball game was at Candlestick Park, with the scum Dodgers visiting the Giants. Much of my baseball life was determined by that game. :)

Neither. Watching my children fall asleep. Then wake up and read ricochet and watch Fox summary especially Luntz's focus group. At midnight, if Arahant is up making rounds through the rico rooms, I probably will watch the replay. I support Cardinals.

If we had cable I'd be watching the Bears vs. Lions game; as it is, I think I'll be flipping between the NLCS and the debate, with the baseball game getting the bulk of my attention.

I'll be watching baseball and rooting for a rematch of the 1968 World Series--the last series before the mutilation of the leagues into divisions, the introduction of playoffs and the Mets being view as a legitimate team. Back when one pitcher (whatever his faults) could win as many games by himself as the best two pitchers combined on either of the current Giants or Cards.

Perfect game is an objective standard of excellence. Certainly you would not suggest that hitters have become less effective or less athletic since 1968.

I'll have the game on TV (I don't have cable or DVR, only an antenna) and will have the debate live online. As Blue State Hostage eloquently put it, by the beginning of the debate the 4th inning will hopefully be over. I suppose that by then we will know whether it is worth watching the remainder of the game.

Go Cardinals, go Romney!
