What Are You Thankful For?

Well, it's nearly Thanksgiving time (except for those silly but very nice people up north who celebrate it early), so I just have one question for all the Ricochetti.
What are you going to be giving thanks for this year?

I am thankful for Ricochet, where debates are debates not arguments and we've learned to be civil to each other because we value that civility.

It may seem cliche, but I'm thankful for God's hand in my life, and in the lives of my family members. A lot of people have been brought into my life and have been good examples and models for me. I'm not around any crazy people! I've got good responsible friends. It's more than formality for me to say that. I'm not saying life is perfect, but I am thankful.
I'm working. I try not to complain about the job-- I'm working and I know a lot of people are struggling. I've had time to listen to good podcasts and audiobooks, and I've made it through some great video games this last month.
I've got a nice little apartment in South Florida that I really like.
One thing that helped make me thankful was my church's thanksgiving/Christmas drive. I donated some stuff and it made think-- "I'm very fortunate that I can give to others."

There are still so much to be thankful for. For God, for life, for my family and loved ones. For health, for my library, my garden. Perhaps, I should be thankful for living an exciting time. A time when who I really am and what I am made of can clearly be measured. And I am thankful for my walk with God, He amazes me everyday and I am thankful for His Grace.

Each day I thank God and pray that I will be worthy of the great gifts I am given -- family, love, relative prosperity -- by sharing those gifts with others. I thank God for my struggles.
I am thankful for the large chalkboard my father salvaged from my old parochial school a couple of years ago when they switched up to smartboards. The chalkboard is mounted in my living room where we do our school and it has changed my life!
I am thankful for the great old cast iron fry pan I bought 17 years ago at a thrift store in Oregon for $2. It is one of my favorite kitchen items.
I am thankful for sharp knives and food to chop with them.
I am thankful for the large woodpile stacked by tadpoles that will keep us warm this winter.
I am thankful for loads of clean laundry. For my amazing old solid washing machine that processes large loads and never complains.
I am thankful for running water, for hot baths, and for my dreamboat of a husband who took the children out to a movie last night so I could enjoy my hot bath in peace and tranquility...

I've been struggling a bit with this one ... several of my friends have been doing a "Thankful November" for which they post something for which they are thankful every day. I have to fight the urge to post snarky things like "I'm thankful the bank sold my house."
But even though life really sucks, there are things I am thankful for: my husband; my family, who loaned me money for deposits and such; my friends, who dropped everything at little notice to help us move; my two jobs, which while far below my "potential" do at least pay my bills and both my bosses are very understanding about my position; my psychologist who's been seeing me pro bono; my church family, who give me emotional and spiritual support; my guild members in WoW, who have become a second circle of far-flung friends, from New Zealand to Ukraine to New Orleans and who put up with my lately frequent AFKing from my guild mother responsibilities; and even y'all here on Ricochet.
And I'll even start being thankful for the apartment when I can find the carpet under all these boxes.

As a former chef, this one caught my eye.
Cast iron cookware is one of the best investments any cook can make.
Your grandkids will be arguing over who gets to inherit it... not to be morbid, just to show how long it lasts.

I always think that if we were forced to flee our house with only what we could carry on our backs, I would take that pan even though it weighs just what a cast iron pan should weigh...

I am thankful for Ricochet (and of course all of you). I have a good job. My health. Family, especially my twin nieces. Freedom (such as it remains)
I'm still thankful that I live in the U.S.A. ; the greatest nation that has ever been.

Of course, the company pays me for Thursday and Friday... and I get the same for Christmas, this year they're giving us Monday and Tuesday.

For being born in the United States in the age of antibiotics, cheap energy and toilet paper.
For having parents who loved me and did their best to raise me.
For a wife who for some reason believes I'm good enough for her.
For having a healthy body and mind.
For having a good job that I mostly enjoy and that pays me well enough to put a roof over my head and too much food in my ample belly.
For friends and family I can count on.
For Dexter, my warm fuzzy kitty who wants nothing more than to sit beside you on a cold day, and for Ares, even if he doesn't give a damn about anything but the food pantry.
For podcasts. For BluRays. For mp3s. For e-readers.
For Star Wars VII.
For the Twilight Saga finally ending.
