Dr. Tim Groseclose is the Marvin Hoffenberg Professor of American Politics at UCLA. He has joint appointments in the political science and economics departments.  Tim's research has focused on Congress, the media, and mathematical models of politics.  He is the author of the recently published book, Left Turn: How Liberal Media Bias Distorts the American Mind.

Late last week, in a post about his recent Uncommon Knowledge interview with Tim Groseclose, our own Peter Robinson introduced him thus:

Tim is a real bird of paradise--young, irresistibly engaging, and such a wonderfully accomplished political scientist and economist that big time universities (in addition to holding a tenured chair at UCLA, Tim has taught at Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, and Harvard) more or less have to take him seriously, despite his openly conservative politics.

Please join me in welcoming Professor Groseclose to Ricochet as this coming week's Guest Contributor!

Careful, Professor. We're hovering near a singularity.

Please tell me that the punctuation error in the title of the Uncommon Knowledge podcast (viz., "Political Quotient's") was committed by an I.T. person rather than by one of the scholars!

I just listened to his (your?) appearance on Uncommon Knowledge. I felt there was a lot of hand-waving on how you quantified the liberalism of a text, but I suspect that is covered in the book, because explaining such mathematics is not something that interviews do well, is it? I did immediately look up Left Turn on Amazon and I look forward to reading it.
