Welcome Peter Wallison
Please join me in welcoming Peter Wallison, Ricochet's Guest Contributor this week. By way of introduction, I point you to a post by Ricochet Member "Mago", written earlier this spring.
Peter Wallison, the Arthur F. Burns Fellow in Financial Policy Studies at AEI would be a most interesting guest. For those Ricochet readers unfamiliar with Mr. Wallison's work, he has provided tremendous analytical commentary leading up to and throughout the "Great Recession." Wallison lobbied for a restructured housing regulatory apparatus well before the housing downturn and respective implosions of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, and in this writer's humble opinion, he has been exactly correct both in terms of diagnosis of structural flaws in the US housing market, and in prescriptive measures to slowly de-risk this major sector of our economy.
In his most recent white paper, Wallison applies Hayek's famous disdain for "economic planning" to the current Leftist strategy of ownership through regulatory micromanagement.
LINK to "What Would Hayek Say"
"Regulation has now become the preferred method to attain the elite political control that seems to be the Left’s governing principle."
In any event, I wanted to recommend one of my go-to sources for policy analysis, as I think he would make an outstanding guest.

Re: Welcome Peter Wallison
This will be fantastic! In law school, I had to write a lengthy paper on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Mr. Wallison's analysis was absolutely indispensable.
Welcome (and thank you)!

Re: Welcome Peter Wallison
What a coincidence, as I was on my walk this morning I thought about going over to the AEI website to have a look around. This was prompted by Paul Ryan, who mentioned the organization on the current Ricochet podcast to which I was listening. Voila. Welcome sir and thank you, Ricochet.
