Sort of.  Jack Dunphy is a friend of mine, though I know him by his real name.  He writes under a pseudonym because of his day job, which is keeping the streets safe in Los Angeles.

Jack carries a badge.

All right -- I'll quit it with the Dragnet cadence.

You've probably read Jack's work in NRO and in other places -- he writes a lot about national politics, urban policing, and is an all-around cool customer.  He's been a fan of Ricochet since the beginning -- since before the beginning, actually, because I remember talking to him about the project when it was just a notion that Peter and I were kicking around.

Jack's a terrific writer and a proud conservative, and what's more, because he's writing as "Jack" and not under his real name, he can do something it's often impossible to do in some jobs and in some places: he can be honest.

I'm honored to have him join us this week as a Guest Contributor, and I know you're going to like him.

What a sterling addition!  I am delighted, as I have followed him for as long as he has been published under this name in National Review.

I'd be most grateful if he would share his views on the "war on drugs".   I am beginning to wonder whether we might be attempting to fight our way across "A Bridge Too Far".

As with everyone else, I have loved Officer Dunphy's work for years. And I for one am waiting for his retirement so that he can step out from behind his pseudonym....
