Has there ever been a group in the White House so fundamentally, and I’m beginning to fear, genuinely confused about the relationship between the government and the governed? It seems they’ve spent most of their first two years in power whining. They’ve whined about the cards they’ve been dealt and the lack of cooperation from the Republicans, but, most of all, they’ve whined about the American people. Millions of Tea Party voters have been tarred as ignorant bigots, and now they’ve gone after their own, telling them to “buck up” and questioning their real commitment to change if they don’t.

Hello? Is anyone home? We’re supposed to be evaluating your performance, not the other way around. You work for us, remember? You were elected to represent all the people of this country, not just the ones who continue to believe in your infallibility. Happily, we'll have the chance to express our displeasure in November by voting instead of whining.

This is what one should expect from a community organizer. A community organizer's role is not to persuade or to serve, but to rally and command. Obama has no experience with needing or caring about his opponents, let alone representing the interests of people who are not paying for his campaign.

And they call themselves Democrats!

I can sorta forgive some several Republicans when they act like the anointed ruling class, at least they aren't completely hypocritical...

And then the recounts, and the allegations of fraud, intimidation, a complicit DOJ ... may the voters' message be so resounding that the resulting political earthshake drowns out the feeble whine.

For what its worth, I do hope the administration outgrows its whine ... two more years of it will most certainly grate on the nerves. But I'm not optimistic that they will.

While I admit it grates, I hope they keep the whining up. It adds incentive to continue the house cleaning that will (hopefully) begin on Nov 2.

It is however, incredibly un-Presidential and dumb. What base becomes inspired through insults and petulance? What president is going to command respect through whining?

To be fair however, it is the guy's first job requiring/involving results, criticism and maturity. He has no experience to fall back on in any of these areas and is understandably struggling to come to grips with them. The kind thing to do is put him out of his political misery (and ours).

Why'd you have to go and say that?

I must note that I live in the Greater Seattle Area, where in King County during a Recount they "Discovered" thousands of overlooked ballots and had a vote counting system that would be the 'Envy' of any Bank.

.

I'm just concerned about how many ACORN, SEIU, et al Extra Votes are going to be counted as well. And will there be enough of us to overcome their Counting Methods.

Please, feed this line to Krauthammer or Boehner, so that it starts making the rounds on cable TV. It's a perfect encapsulation of the problem with the Democrats' last week of media spin.

The better part of leftist appeal and ideology is at its core a sense of victim-hood so this is appalling but not shocking. I can't wait till November. Entitled minds yield easily to criminal behavior. I think we all have been desensitized to the level of corruption by this administration. Victims and their Robin Hoods don't have to play by the rules, this town needs a GOP subpoena power enema. I would not miss this vote for the world

I was surprised (foolishly, in retrospect) to learn that the SEIU is driving voter fraud here in Texas, where unions are so generally disliked that even the majority of our construction workers are not union members.

I know voter fraud is common and has been around forever. But I wish I knew how great a role it plays, considering that most elections are won by a close margin.

If King Barack is going to also elevate himself to Pontiff and enter us into full blown Erastianism, couldn't he at least have the decency to produce some type of catechetical guide for we plebes here outside the walls? By the way his senior advisers are jumping on flights out of Washington, I sincerely hope he's not going all Hamlet on us.

Hey, at least they like him in China. They're comparing him to Mao... in a favorable way.

Pat: Kenneth Minogue recently published an article in The New Criterion entitled "Morals and the Servile Mind" in which he discusses the strange inversion about who works for whom in politics:

"My concern with democracy is highly specific. It begins in observing the remarkable fact that, while democracy means a government accountable to the electorate, our rulers now make us accountable to them. . . . We must face up to the grim fact that the rulers we elect are losing patience with us. . . . Our rulers are theoretically 'our' representatives, but they are busy turning us into the instruments of the projects they keep dreaming up. The business of governments, one might think, is to supply the framework of law within which we may pursue happiness on our own account. Instead, we are constantly being summoned to reform ourselves."

The explanation is simple, if not desirable. The "progressive" wing of the Democratic party is profoundly uncomfortable with the whole concept of democracy. The notion that the great ignorant masses might have more collective wisdom than the anointed few runs counter to everything they know to be true.
