Extra! Extra! Extra!
Our new Headlines page consists of short news items that have caught the attention of our editors, and which we think might interest you as well. Each news item takes you to an external page where you can read the details.
We invite you to come back to the Headlines page and add your comments. If a particularly good conversation develops, and depending in part on the overall level of activity at the time, we’ll add the conversation to the home page.

A step sideways. Sorry. The mushroom-and-dunghill relationship of blogging and old-timey media remains unchanged.
Now I know this is an opinion site, not an information site. Rally the troops, et cetera. But I was hoping for more farflung correspondents, and more tellers of tales. Fewer amens and say-it-brothers; more The folly of foreign aid was well demonstrated when I gave the Santomean children Grapenuts and they were ATTRACTED, not REPELLED and Stuxnet? Sure. I wrote the decoy code, the stuff the Israelis TOLD the Belarussians to look for, nyuk-nyuk-nyuk!
Ah well. I came to Ricochet because it looked (and is) as civil as Lileks's website, minus the obligation of reading a thousand words on how he changed his printer and dozens of groupies saying how they changed theirs.

Our plans are to give increasing capabilities to members -- for banter, for connecting with each other, and for honing arguments on various issues.
I suggest keeping me on a short leash.
