You know that kid from The Incredibles... that's about how I feel about this.

That has been circulating as an email for some time; even before the OWS movement, I think.  It contains a lot of truth, but it also has an air of superiority and mean-spiritedness that in itself helps perpetuate a stereotype.

The OWS idea that Wall Streeters enrich themselves at the expense of others is a cartoonish view.  Yes, I have encountered a few materialistic jerks, but you find these in any profession.  And, yes, there are abuses from time to time.  But for the most part, financial institutions bend over backwards to comply with regulations, and my colleagues are hard-working folks who provide an important public good:  Financing for the enterprises that grow the economy and create jobs.  I will never, ever, apologize for that.  I'm proud of what I do.  And while I don't wish to disparage unionized workers, I do wish they would stop complaining so much.  When I need to work late or work over the weekend, I don't have the luxury of complaining.  I can do as I'm told, or be out of a job.

I find it hard not to laugh everytime I read this....Imagine it with Corzine's signature attached at the bottom, or perhaps Nick Leeson's....

I agree  about the arrogance even though I find it amusing. When I read it I thought, work hard and eat what you kill is the case with most small business owners regardless of what street they work on.

One of our College Feed contributors posted this a while ago.

I just double checked: it was our former intern, Joshua Riddle, October 25. He'd gotten it from a friend.

If it wasn't arrogant it wouldn't contain the sting that makes people re-tweet and re-post it. See how far a gentle rebuke goes on the internet.

The thing I like about the image and the words that have been photographed is that they're educational.  It may seem arrogant to have to hear such a bold statement but it doesn't change the elements of truth that are being shared here.
