Vulture Verdict: Hilarious!

A friend of mine send me a link to this story with a note saying, "Not sure if this is hilarious or tragic."
Saudi Arabian officials have "detained" a vulture on accusations of being a spy for Israel, media reports say.
The griffon vulture was carrying a GPS transmitter bearing the name of Tel Aviv University, prompting rumours it was part of a Zionist plot.
That one's easy: It's hilarious! When nutcase Islamist regimes detain Jews on the suspicion that they're vultures, it's tragic. When they detain vultures on the suspicion that they're Jews, it's hilarious.

Apparently the Arab tradition of scientific inquiry is dead and buried. Otherwise, not only would the Saudis know of the Israeli vulture migration study, but they'd be participants.

Wow, that is cargo-cultish behavior. Are the Saudis really so ignorant that they don't understand that universities tag wildlife? I guess they can't understand because they're more concerned with tracking their women.

Apparently they're waiting for it to start kvetching under the hot lights to prove that its a zionist plot, though I don't know what they'll have to say about kosher food restrictions as they apply to carrion eating birds.

Well, Saudis are dead from the neck up, but the Grand Mufti has reassured the people of Saudi Arabia that they don't have to worry about these carrion-eaters preying on them because there aren't enough Zionist vultures make a minyan. :-D
