Our intrepid road warrior, Dave Carter, is developing a complex about being given directions, and would like to make a distinction or two.
Ricochet members, you can subscribe to Dave's musings and enjoy them the way God intended: on a mobile device on the road (click on the subscribe icon or copy and paste the link into your podcatcher).

Alright, new lawn tractor material for when the rain stops!
(Hey, it's almost 2 acres of mowing, so I need entertainment!)

Oy. Yeti, for those of us that don't use iTunes and for those of us that don't use any "podcatcher", could we please just have a straight link?
Thanks!

Miss Kelly taught me in grade five. Back then I had very bad hand writing. Miss Kelly would have none of that. Everyday at lunch she kept me in practicing penmanship. I had a paper route and she wouldn't keep me after school because of it. She would also send me home with penmanship practice and my other home work. No excuse for not having both sets of homework done was acceptable. I had the distinct impression that if I ever told her the dog ate my home work, she would come to the house and shoot the dog—her class was a no excuse zone. But, to this day people—especially women—comment on the elegance of my handwriting. I think this is more because they can read it than it is because it has any particular elegance. Yes, Dave, among other things it does build character. And, yes, I am grateful for Miss Kelly.

Cas, I had a few teachers like that too. And because of Mrs. Watts, military basic training wasn't so bad. But I want no part of Lincoln Logs ever again.

Looking back, one has to ponder if the Mrs. Watts of the time were not replicated in some clone fashion. They always seemed to revel in making examples of independent thinking miscreants. Such as myself, still am.
Still managed to succeed, despite a few visits to the Principal where The Board of Education was applied with some gusto. The jury is still out on that test of wills.
Still prefer a map, save one can understand in your case. Who needs a bookcase in the cab ?

Actually, Wilbur, I have a huge professional atlas in the passenger seat, a book case with everything from WFB to Bertrand Russell, and beaucoup books on my Kindle app on the phone. Oh yes, and audio books on the phone so I can listen to books while I drive.
Did I mention I had a reserved seat in the Principal's Office?
