The president of the United States appears to think that voting constitutes some kind of “revenge.” Jonah Goldberg does his typical excellent job of making fun of this particular conceit. I thought that whole “New Tone” thing was supposed to have come into effect by now, so that this kind of rhetoric would be panned across the board as being unacceptable, but I guess that just hasn’t happened yet. Strange.
Incidentally, I would not be in the least bit surprised to find out that the president and other Obamaphiles–yes, I phrased it that way deliberately–think that opposing him constitutes some form of lese majesté. On Tuesday, we are due to find out whether this form of arrogance and condescension deserves to be validated at the polls for four more years. Let’s hope that it gets its comeuppance instead.
