The announcers on Al Jazeera seem unable to refrain from describing every recent development in Egypt as "unprecedented." Historic, absolutely. Massively significant, yes. But unprecedented? No, I do not think so.

More eerily familiar photos from the 1919 Egyptian Revolution. An eerily familiar video from 1919. An eerily familiar report from the New York Times. Some eerily familiar bad punditry. If you go back to 1919, you'll find observers saying pretty much everything we said on the podcast yesterday (minus the references to Israel, of course). It's quite spooky.
