This week on Uncommon Knowledge, President George W. Bush discusses his life as an ex-president ("awesome"), his work at the Bush Institute, and his views on the changes in the Middle East and Africa since he left office.

We don't know if it happened, but if George W ever got down on his knees and prayed (in 2009) that his economic legacy would be greatly improved by 2012, I wish he'd been a little more specific in his prayer, and specified that it (his economic legacy) not just be greatly improved relative to an unbelievably horrible and incompetent successor.

His attitude on elections in places like Egypt is all wrong. He insists that the parties' platforms are about improving the lives of people and that the Egyptian people will hold them accountable in future elections, so the west must ensure that such future elections take place. And what of the Copts who are slaughtered in the meantime?

He says that Hamas has not improved the lives of the people in Gaza, so they will surely throw them out in the next election. (Assuming there are such future elections.)  Such foolishness!!

Did Peter do this interview on that recent trip he took to Texas? Or is this an older one?

Islam and Freedom do not coexist.  The word "Islam" translates as submission.  If George W believes Islam can be reformed through Democracy, it hasn't happen yet in the last 100 years.  Both Turkey and now Egypt prove this point.  He should follow Winston Churchill's ideas on the Moslem world.

Israel Pickholtz displays far more understanding of Islam than does GWB.  The fantasy that civilized behavior grows FROM democracy is a fiction.  Democracy grows FROM civilized behavior.

One must acknowledge a Creator who has the interests of His creation in His heart, NOT a creator who holds himself aloof from his creation, and his self interest above that of his creation.

The god of Islam, no matter their claim that he is the god of the Bible, is the antithesis of the Judeo-Christian God, and the resulting culture of Islam is also the antithesis of Judeo-Christianity.  It is from the soil of Judeo-Christian civilization that democracy springs.  Islam is a barren field, producing only weeds.

Like others at Ricochet there are issues I disagree with Bush, including the role of the fedearl government and fiscal responsibility. While I disagree with him, he is a class gentleman and that is really evident in the interview. Nice work Peter.

This interview was taped on June 26th, just before the SCOTUS decision was announced.

I would love to watch this interview, but YouTube apparently is not serving it up.

Any one else having problems accessing this video?

Charles,  I found it on the Daily Caller website, also, I would think you could find it on the Hoover Institute website and eventually here on Ricochet

Hope I'm not breaking any rules but here is the link.
