UK/KU -- I'm OK, RU?
I lost my heart for the NCAA basketball tournament last night after Louisville and Ohio State lost. Just being honest.
I wasn't that passionate about any one team, but I did want to see the postgame handshake between Rick Pitino and John Calipari had Kentucky lost. (The pregame shake seemed a little frosty to me.) Also, Louisville dispatched my beloved alma mater Davidson in Round 1, and I think perhaps I might have felt a bit better about that had Louisville gone on to actually become the Best Team in the Nation. It takes the sting out of a loss somehow to be able to tell yourself, "Well, they are the best, and we did keep it tight ..." But Coach Cal's favored UK team did, indeed, vanquish Louisville. Sigh.
In Game 2, I was pulling for Ohio State for the simple reason that this is a state school team with 6 roster players hailing from in-state. That's pretty rare. The Kentucky roster has 4 from the home state, Louisville had 3, and Kansas enters tomorrow's national championship with 2 players from in-state.
In our Ricochet pool, it looks like it will be a battle to the finish between members Kofola and Bill Waldron. Kofola takes it if Kansas wins while Mr. Waldron reigns if Kentucky prevails. (Kennedy Smith will certainly correct me here or on the member feed if I'm wrong about this.) I'm sure these two members left standing will be sweating out the next 24 hours; I know they both really want their T-shirt. Or mug. Or beer cozy. Can't remember what the swag is this year, but it's sure to be hip. Congrats, gentlemen!

I havent been this excited for the final in a long time. First, I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI, so I have no love for OSU. Secondly, I picked KU in to win it all in my office bracket, not in my Ricochet bracket unfotunately, and may win one of these pools for the first time.
Re: UK/KU -- I'm OK, RU?
Ah, good for you M.D. Maybe some of my enthusiasm will return with a few other excited commenters. I can be easily swayed... And congrats on your office pool mastery. Is the pot big?

The pot is only $50, but the bragging rights are priceless

I want the shirt, and picked Kentucky, but won't be crushed if they lose. (Got my doctorate from Tennessee, so no love for the Wildcats.)

Go Kofola, sorry Bill. I live in K.C, but grew up right across the State Line in Kansas. KU basketball is my favorite sport/team. I didn't fill out a Ricochet bracket, but I have to admit, in my office pool I picked North Carolina. A win against the Kentucky marauders would be no less a majestic achievement then the 1988 Danny and the Miracles. Whatever happens Monday night, KU has far surpassed their expectations. No more can be asked by a KU fan!

If for any reason Mr. Waldron is unable to fulfill his obligations as the Mr. NCAA...

I hope that Kentucky hears the chant foreshadowing their doom! Rock chalk!!
cdor-- I have no sympathy for you. I have picked the Jayhawks in every office pool for twenty-plus years.

It certainly started out like one of those years, didn't it? I am especially finding solace in this turn of events since Mizzou has moved on. Small things make me happy.

How many starters did KU lose this year? And yet they're in the finals! Go Jayhawks.

Re: UK/KU -- I'm OK, RU?
If Kansas wins, I think I take second, which would be my highest finish in history. I would be happy with that, but if the suits at Ricochet want to award some runner-up stuff, I wouldn't turn it down.
No matter who wins, POTUS will finish well back. Let's hope he campaigns like he picked the NCAA. He can start, but can he make it down the back stretch?

Alcina, congrats, I hope you win your pool this year. HOA, No offense, but Missouri sucks ( please don't be a COC violation).

Doubtful that many had Union and Ferris State both making their first appearance, even with high seeds.
My wife and I will be attending here in Tampa this weekend.

I'm a Lousville fan and all I can say is y'all are delusional. UK could beat half the teams in the NBA this year. Cats Uber Ales.

Davidson, eh? What took you there?
UK v KU, the palindrone bowl?
On paper, it should be UK, but I have a feeling ...

Perhaps not a good metric. A quick Google check shows that Ohio has about four times the population of Kansas. It would be tough for Kansas to compete using only local talent.

Hmm. OK, but wouldn't that also mean that there are many more schools in Ohio to pull that talent?
