I just caused myself serious overwhelm trying to summarize all the day's news from this region. I didn't succeed, but I did find a tool that might be helpful. From the Guardian, an interactive map of the Arab and Middle East uprising on Twitter.

It's a cool idea, but either the traffic isn't that great, or something isn't working.
(where's the feed of non-politically left-of-center tweets emanating from NYC ;-)

(also, most of those tweets seem to be coming from outside of the countries in question)

Hmmm. It was working pretty well when I found it. Let me consult it again and see what I can figure out.
Meanwhile, my neighbor's kid is taking trombone lessons. I've finally snapped out of my denial and realized that no, it is not a one-off event. It's lessons. And he's committed to practicing, really committed.
I am slowly working through my emotions about this.

You're right, ParisP--as of now, it is a non-interactive guide to exactly one Twitter feed from Libya. I bet some tech at the Guardian is losing his mind.

Okay, now it seems to be working again--is it working for you? (Respect to Guardian's tech guy.)

Perhaps Flanders and Swann's "Ill Wind" would help?
