Please join us tonight for our first live chat. We'll be using CoverItLive, which allows everyone -- contributors and members -- to participate. We're expecting many of our contributors and perhaps a few special guests to stop by throughout the evening. But what we're most excited about is opening up the floor to the Ricochet community to comment on the returns and report on what's happening in your neck of the woods in real time. It's something of an experiment, but we're hoping it will be more of conversation and less like this.
We'll be starting at 7PM Eastern time/4PM Pacific and plan to go all evening. Please stop by!

Unfortunately, since I'm Canadian, I was not able to cast my ballot as an undocumented member of the four legged community, though I suppose if I drove to Chicago...

I'm spending election day in blue-state (turning purple?) Maryland, far away from comfortable red-state Alabama, in a hotel room with a spotty wireless connection. Here's hoping. Lots of folks at my meeting planning their evenings around watching the returns tonight. Good luck on the live chat.

Just to be clear, this will be a text based chat tonight, not audio. No special bandwidth required. In fact, CoverItLive has a very slick free iPhone app as well as a mobile site for Blackberry users, so anyone can participate from anywhere.

My husband is dragging me off to a concert in the next town. It's the Indigo Girls, so I fully expect ugly liberal haranguing (which we got the last time we saw them). It starts at 8 Eastern, so I'll be to the party some time after 10. The officials at my polling place say turn-out is good. I am going back later this afternoon to hold signs with the local Republicans, which I have never done before.

Good to know, although my wireless issues in the hotel are more connectivity oriented than strictly bandwidth. As far as the app, of course, I'm a Palm Pre user. :-) Ah well.
And PJS, just think, the more frustrated and ugly the liberal barrage at the concert may be, the "closer [you'll] be to fine."

So we just go to CoverItLive at the appropriate time and look at "live" chats, and find one labelled Ricochet?
Yes, dumb question I know, but whenever I decide not to ask something like this, I get confused when the time comes.

I have to say, PJS, I'm a Indigo Girls fan. Of the music ONLY. I couldn't do a concert for the very reason you refer to, but also because of the off-the-cuff political comments by the singers. And, good for you for the sign-holding! That'll be a fun experience to comment on.

PJS, my wife (then girlfriend) whom you've met, took me to an Indigo Girls concert when we were first dating. Back in 1997 I think. They put on a pretty good show but I'd expect a lot of liberal nonsense.

Sigh. Bummer. Live feed isn't going to work for me where I am. Must be the hotel wireless. Tried submitting two comments to the conversation, and while it said that it took, neither have appeared. Y'all have fun!
All I can say is, I'd rather have Brit Hume talking than Shep.
