And now something lighter. Here’s “Europe Seen from Turkey” off the Flickr stream of one “Yiğit Canarın.” Hope you are amused…

Re: Türkische Europaanschauung
So if you live far enough north, your choice is between sex and Ikea. Fascinating.

Sex, IKEA, and volcanoes. Awesome!

I laughed. My favorites are:
1) The Balkans-"We were here"
2) All of Scandinavia-"Ikea"
And
3) Italy-"Christian Turks"

I guess I was too distracted by the sex to give the volcanoes due attention.
In fairness to myself, though, if you go far enough north, your choice is between Ikea and sex alone: the northernmost point of Iceland is only about 67* latitude, while Finland reaches about 70 and Russia 81.

Cyprus doesn't even get the benefit of a doubt.
Q: What does this map have in common with South Carolinian newly-weds spending Thanksgiving with Jacksonville in-laws?
A: The only thing separating turkey and sex is Georgia.

That's a riot, Bill. My wife sent me this one a couple of weeks ago.

Warning, lots of bad language.
The Korean peninsula and Anglosphere are standouts.

Re: Türkische Europaanschauung
I appreciate the nuances of color. Red as in "red light district" and "stop"... the implication being that one stops for sex on the way to IKEA.
Sex after shopping is a recipe for destruction. No, after IKEA, one goes home, where one can freely hate British soccer and the Chicago Bulls. Finally, one milks the Christians for all their worth before returning to where one was before and enduring annoying in-laws for the sake of eating their turkey.
