Crimson Tide

10.  Arab Spring

9.  LSU offense taking lessons on decisive action from Mitt Romney.

8.  Our players were locked in their hotel rooms while Ole Miss players stole our uniforms and took the field.

7.  Japan tsunami.

6.  Worst coaching since the Great Depression.

5.  George W. Bush

4.  Using federal methodology for calculating the unemployment rate, we won.

3.  Recalcitrant congress.

2.  Alabama substituted engine blocks for players.

And the Number 1 reason why LSU lost:  Alabama was damned good tonight.  We were outplayed, out coached, and out muscled.  Of course, we did train their coach, and it did take them two tries to take us down,…but take us down they did.  Congratulations to the Crimson Tide, and congratulations to the SEC on another stellar season.

Yep we done got whooped. Not one aspect of the game did we win or even tie. Congrats to all the Tide fans and thanks to LSU for a great season no one expected in July. There's always the Saints Dave.

The conference is unmatched, so my sorrow is tempered somewhat.  An unbeaten regular season, a division title and a conference championship is nothing to sneeze at.  But tonight belongs to Bama.  And the season belongs to our conference.  Now, if you'll pardon me,... I have some sharp instruments somewhere in this truck....

The Saints,...that's true,...but a prominent member of my family is a Packers fan.  I need to go back and review Claire's "House Dividend" post.   Actually though, college ball is my thing more so than pro ball.  With the exception of the Saints, I don't follow any other sports, and don't have a dog in any of those fights.  I'll go into hibernation until next season.

OK St for National Champion! At least they beat a team with a real offense. That was the worst game I have seen since Fl St got in for some unknown reason. There ought to be a rule that you can't be in the championship game without winning your conference. And lastly do they even understand offensive FB in the SEC?

My condolences Dave, I would have been at least a little happier if LSU had won.

Thank you,....  egad, are we on suicide watch here?  And where the deuce are the sharp instruments!

Well Doc, the points these teams put up against other conferences would suggest that they do understand offense.  These were two evenly matched teams,....but tonight one of them clearly dominated the other.  Both dominated everyone else they played all year.

Lucky for LSU, everyone had stopped watching the game by the end..

Two SEC teams play each other in the "title" game, one is bound to win.  Proves nothing.  You have to actually give a team from another conference a shot at the title and beat them on the field instead of just in the polls to earn my respect.

Great point, you can't be Super Bowl champion without first winning the NFC or AFC.  If Alabama can't even win their own conference it's a farce to call them national champs.

Dave Carter

Joseph, I agree with you on that one,...though the last five or so title games where an SEC team prevailed are instructive,...as are the non conference games these teams played this year.  Over on Facebook, one guy said that while Bama might not necessarily have deserved to be in this game,..they certainly deserved to win it.  I take nothing from them.  They were unstoppable tonight,..and that's coming from a fan of the only team that did stop them in the regular season.

Shutout

Roll Tide!!

Our Special Teams played entirely different from the last go 'round. McCarron played cool and smart. Our line held. And our defense kept Jefferson guessing (shut down the option, too).

But we wouldn't have won it so handily if LSU hadn't hurt themselves. They got sloppy, and then they lost heart. Miles is going to catch hell for keeping Jefferson in the game, especially after that "fair" comment in the post-game interview with Erin Andrews. But LSU had a hell of a team this year. My hat goes off to them.

That said... shutout!!

I think the AP Poll might be interesting, as there are voters who will want to split the championship between the two teams.  I won't split those hairs, though.  My guys got beat, pure and simple, on the field in the coaching as well.  You won't find a more die hard LSU fan than yours truly, but Bama played to win,...and they deserve to be called Champions,...in my humble opinion.

He's Ohio trained, just like all the great coaches. We send them out to the rest of the country to make it a national game.

The conference is unmatched...

Well, if other teams were allowed to play them for the championship, maybe they wouldn't be. Up north, there's a little more to football than just: (1) run, (2) repeat. Thank goodness USC is back to end this garbage.

Well, you've been generous to a fault on that one, given Ohio's recent record.  Perhaps Coach Meyer will return the favor for the state.  I hope he helps that conference up there perk up a bit too.

Other teams have played them for the last several years,...and the results are well known.  And again, the teams that played tonight did play teams from other conferences,...ranked teams in the case of Oregon and West Virginia. Those results are well known too.

Mmm, yes, a massive three point win last year on a last second field goal. And a win over turnover-riddled Oregon this year. And #2X Penn State and West Virginia. Clearly an unmatched conference. Everybody's baby is beautiful.
