Matt Lewis of the Daily Caller reports some interesting--and seemingly insider--information:  Some top donors to Chris Christie "have been told to prepare to go to Trenton this Thursday to stand on stage with him for the announcement if he decides to run."

If true, does this news make it more likely that he'll announce in the affirmative or, for the umpteenth time, in the negative?  With a normal person, it would be the former. With Christie, it could go either way.

It would be odd to ask donors to come and then say no, wouldn't it?  Seems odd to me.  I would think if he were going to say no, he'd make private phone calls to top donors and would-be donors.

It would be odd to say that you'd rather commit suicide than to run, and then to run, wouldn't it?

Abstractly yes.  But not under the concrete circumstances.  I think his earlier denials were manifestly sincere.  He really had no intention of running.  He really didn't think the time was right.  But things have changed.

This seems like an easy statement to walk back.  He can say he had some epiphany and go from there.  Leftists like Maddow, et al will bash him for a day and then we'll all 'move on' and 'lean forward' from there :)

As Jonah Goldberg would say: "Keep hope alive."

I'd vote for Mickey Mouse if that would remove the Destroyer of Worlds from the White House.

"With the caveat that his team has said nothing and the governor himself has yet to speak - and could say something different - sources tell POLITICO Gov. Chris Christie isn't launching a presidential campaign."

Did certain sectors of the GOP establishment just play their last hole card and was it a deuce? I would not be surprised, now, to see another candidate enter the fray in the next seven days.

Who though?  Who could plausibly do it?
