Today is my eight year wedding anniversary to my wife, Anne.  She is the best thing.  And she is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Great choice! I first heard LaMontagne when I picked up one of those free song cards at Starbucks. I have been a fan ever since. Let me mention three other songs of his: "Shelter" (my favorite), "Trouble" and "Let it be me".

Great songs all.  For everyone's convenience, here are the links to those songs... "Trouble" , "Shelter" and "Let It Be Me".

I have made a number of discoveries via those free songs at Starbucks.  Nothing like free music to go with my Grande Latte Non-Fat with a half pack of Sweet and Low.

Happy Anniversary, Lance.  I like this song....he reminds me of a more polished Joe Cocker.

I'll also voice a "Happy Anniversary" Lance.  My beautiful bride & I will celebrate 25 years next month.

And I also want to thank you for helping me baffle my aforementioned 17 year old daughter.  I asked her the other day if she'd heard of The Joy Formidable (and subsequently played the song for her).  She looked at me and asked "Where are you FINDING all of these groups?!"

Thank you.  And a happy early Anniversary to you.  It'll be a Silver anniversary gift year for you.  Turns out 8 is a fine year for giving copper.

And regarding your 17 year old...Mission Accomplished!

LaMontagne is one of those "secrets" that everybody seems to be in on. Certainly not the style and sound you'd expect from a guy from Maine; sometimes "soul", sometimes"western". He's hard to classify, which is what I like. Lotsa good music from the latest album too. "Beg, Steal or Borrow" is getting most of the airplay out here.

I haven't heard Till the Sun Turns Black or Gossip in the Grain yet, but I'll second the endorsement of God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise. "Beg, Steal or Borrow" is a decent song... and one of my least favorite tracks on the album. LaMontagne fans should check out Griffin House, who graduated from Miami around the time I got there.

This also seems an perfect excuse to plug Sounds to Ricochet By, the Pandora station I set up a couple weeks back! I used LaMontagne as one of the station's seed artists.

I'm glad to see he's getting airplay.  The tune off his latest that was sent to me was The Devil's In the Box.

Ha!  You beat me to the punch!  I look forward to checking it out.  Who else did you pick as a seed?  Any specific songs?

The only song seeds are a handful of recent podcast intro / outro songs. I added 25-30 artist seeds; a mix of blues, classic rock, some recent alt-rock and alt-country. Any suggestions, let me know!

Excellent pick!  I first heard him on an episode of Rescue Me, then became a fan after seeing him on Austin City Limits.  He's in heavy rotation on my stereo.

I did not - haven't heard of them, actually! I'll add 'em to the rotation and give 'em a listen.

Thanks!
