You're getting there, too bad Ali Farka Toure(Mali) is dead. His stuff with Diabete is so beautiful. Thanks for the daily tunes.

Cool.  Thanks for the heads up.  I have been pacing around the house with my head stuck up in the clouds on a presentation I am working on.  That will prove to be a nice distraction.

And regarding the podcast...its what brought me to the site in the first place.   And the work you and the folks are doing to bring more podcasts into the mix is really awesome.  One of these days I would like to dabble in my own and do a music podcast.  To be honest, much of that desire is as much out of curiosity for the production side of the effort as it is creative desire to share my playlists.  But to be REALLY honest, it would stem out of the need to properly edit out all the UMMs and UHHHs that would inevitably litter my dialogues.

Diane Ellis, Ed.

Another great Eddie Vedder song on a good soundtrack:

Almost cried seeing this on Ricochet. I grew up on NFAK and did cry at his passing in 1997. This is my favorite of his. Translation can be found halfway down this page.

I can't seem to quote you while typing on my iTouch, Humza, to track your link, but all I can say about that song you provided is "Ohh Mannnn!". Just ask my wife...that is the highest response I can give to something I am being introduced to that blows me away. I loved the power, and on the version I could access, the collection of voices were so beautiful. I don't know if this form of music calls it harmonies or not, but that's what I'll call them. And I'll love them. Thanks so much for sharing!

Good tune, Lance. Thanks.

Since I'm a quibbler though, I have to note that the graphic at the 5 min mark (Dead Man Waking may have originally come from the 1909 poem by Thomas Hardy) seems unlikely.

BTW, since Eddie's all about the Prejeans, did he pen a similar ode to Carrie?

Regarding the poem, that very well may be the case.  For the majority of these videos, including this one, I am sourcing them online via YouTube.  I now realize that the embedded function tends to hide the identity of their creator, so I am sorry to have implied otherwise.  I select the video that has the best sound quality and the most appropriate content.  For some songs, though, I do have to load them and create a video.  I was initially doing that back when I started but it took too long.  The last one I did do that for was for "The First Days of Spring" because I really wanted to showcase some spring imagery.

And regarding the Prejean reference, it took a quick google search and a revealing visit to TMZ, but I finally got it.  Good one!

To which podcast are you reffering?  I was unaware that there was a music podcast on Ricochet.

Eddie Vedder hasn't been worth anything since Pearl Jam's first album. I like South Asian music, but Eddie's incoherent mumbling ruins this for me. Sorry.

Oh that there were.  I was referencing the guys kindly bestowing these daily posts as their Member Post of the Week on their weekly podcast.  The Blue Yeti had encouraged me to listen to the podcast this week in the second comment up above.  I was just passing along my thanks.

No need to apologize.  Everything isn't meant for everyone.  I appreciate the listen.  What is something you are into so I can keep an eye/ear out for it, or something like it?

I have mentioned in other conversations how much I love Ten.  They certainly didn't come close to capturing the greatness that was that album in subsequent efforts.  But I must say that I have tended toward enjoying Eddie Vedder's solo work, obviously starting with my discovery of this track way back when.  Its the rest of the band that honestly began to bore me with Vitalogy.

I usually pick the Member Post of The Week, but we're all fans of Lance's work, so it was an easy choice. Thanks again.

In terms of a music podcast, I would love to, but it's tricky for us. There are all sorts of rights issues involved with playing complete tracks, even if they are on YouTube. Buying a license is prohibitively expensive. You'd think that the music industry would encourage people creating podcasts around their favorite music, but you'd be wrong.

Yes I did find the humming (or what is it) of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan very good (sorry, can not be more accurate in describing it).

However isn't the content of the film very left-liberal and anti-conservative?

Its funny you mention that.  You will notice my intro to the video is very short and, contrary to my normal meandering, to the point.  And that is because the nice little missive I had originally written took away from the reason I had picked the song.  Its point had been that I actively seek to demonstrate an ability to show respect and affection for the professional output of people with whom I tend to vehemently disagree on matters political and social.   I do this knowing they do not do the same.  And while I do not think myself their better, endeavoring to do so is the better thing to do.

I rented The Tourist last night and enjoyed it.   Angelina Jolene isn't just beautiful, she is quite good at such roles.  And Johnny Depp continues to entertain me after all these years.   Yet I disagree with them on almost everything.
