That is the latest to come from the Obama administration, Tim Geithner admitted they are not trying to solve the debt crisis. Obama declares this Congress is a "do-nothing" Congress, and yet we get Geithner admitting they don't have a plan to solve the debt crisis, they just "don't like yours?" How inspiring.

If your budget's strange
And your plan's a dud.
Who ya gonna call?
Tim Geithner!
.
If your wave of debt
Has become a flood.
Who ya gonna call?
Tim Geithner!

The Geithner plan, metaphorically illustrated.
(Note: some vulgar expostulations. It's British.)

If Tim Geithner could kill with his beady little eyes, he would be shooting death rays into Paul Ryan every moment of this hearing. If President Obama's upraised chin could jab the eyes out of his enemies, Paul Ryan would be blind.
Mama Toad <3s Paul Ryan...
Every time I hear his earnest tones I want to get up and cheer. In fact, often I do so, here in the privacy of my own living room. The tadpoles love and pray for him every day. (We pray for the president too, but our love for him is more of a dutiful Christian kind.)

Mama: Could you also get the tadpoles to include Marco Rubio in their prayers? Somehow I think he and Ryan have a rendezvous with destiny; metaphorically, they're going to have to be the HazMat team to clean up Obama's toxic mess. They're going to need all of our prayers, especially those of the tadpoles.

Already done, tabula rasa. Every day. The Lord hears the prayers of little ones, I hope.

I have maintained for some time that those in power don't care how much ruin they cause as long as they are left to rule the wreckage. After all, they won't get hurt. They won't pay the price. They won't be held responsible when the bill comes due. Tar and feathers is too good for them. Sickening. Just sickening.

Re: Tim Geithner to Paul Ryan: "We Don't Have A Definitive Solution To Our Long-Term Problem...We Just Don't Like Yours"
It is absolutely heartbreaking to watch Paul Ryan, with all his gifts, make such a persuasive case with all the facts in hand and realize how few are going to see this exchange. The argument that he is just where he should be to do the most good--a case he makes along with many people here--is rubbish. This is one case where his own good judgement deserts him.
If this man had the bully pulpit to make his case, we might have a chance to turn public opinion toward conservatism. I am gung-ho for Marco Rubio and Alan West and the other rising stars, but this guy has what it takes right now, I believe.
I so wish Professor Rahe had prevailed in his campaign to persuade Ryan to run.

Re: Tim Geithner to Paul Ryan: "We Don't Have A Definitive Solution To Our Long-Term Problem...We Just Don't Like Yours"
I've gone back and forth on this one (as if it mattered).
It looks now as though he could have won, but back in August -- well, Michele Bachmann would have gone for the jugular, for one, and Perry looked formidable. It would've been ugly -- and if it hadn't worked out, we would possibly be worse off than where we are now. Someone who hasn't planned on running for President does not always turn out to be a good campaigner.
His influence within Congress matters. If the rumours are to be believed, he actually has a bipartisan consensus coming together on Medicare reform -- something he could not have done if he were running for President. We might accomplish more with a Republican president and Ryan where he is now, than if Ryan had abandoned his job to run himself.
But he could have beat Obama. I'm fairly certain of that -- more than with anyone else. I'd probably rather vote for him than anyone else, too.

If Obama wins, and the dollar tanks, accountability will be hard to dodge.
Then we could enjoy the most expensive case of schadenfreude in history.

If you took all the czars and the cabinet and put them together, they would be unable to run a frozen custard stand. Geithner has no idea what to do except moan about the opposition stopping his ininitiatives. If it were a fight, the ref would have stopped this regime a long time ago.

If Obama wins, the nation will descend into tyranny. Consider the cost of holding a tyrant accountable and be very afraid.

So the US has an unfundeed pensions problem. Canada has less of a problem as it has funded pensions which are currently buying up infrastructure in the UK because the UK also has unfunded pensions.
The answer is obvious, the US should sell it's infrastructure to Canada!

Re: Tim Geithner to Paul Ryan: "We Don't Have A Definitive Solution To Our Long-Term Problem...We Just Don't Like Yours"
Neither side. The side being the key word. Paul Ryan is just one member of this side who, for whatever reason, can be as vocal/truthful as he is without being punished for it by his voting constituents. He's not alone in being able to do this but he doesn't have a whole lot of company on his own side, either.
