Thumbing His Nose at the Birthers

With both Charlie Sheen and Newt Gingrich laying claim to "Winning the Future," it was clear that Barack Obama needed a fresh new slogan for his 2012 re-election campaign. That new slogan? "Made in the USA." And lest you think the president has adopted a policy of protectionism as a plank in his new platform, think again:

Re: Thumbing His Nose at the Birthers
Oh, great. Now, the parsing begins with the discussion of the word "made." Does this mean the birthers will become the conceptioneers? Was he really made in the USA or was the finished product just unveiled in Hawai'i?

Re: Thumbing His Nose at the Birthers
That's assuming, of course, that his parents were on US soil at the moment he was 'made', i.e. conceived.
Hey, I think I smell a new conspiracy theory forming . . .

Re: Thumbing His Nose at the Birthers
The "Pet Rock" was made in the USA too, and that 1975 novelty item had about the same lasting positive effect on America as Barack Obama has had, and will have. Obama was the inexplicable popular must have item of 2008, just like the Pet Rock was in 1975. Americans go nuts sometimes.

Forgive me, but I think selling mugs with the birth certificate on 'em is kinda clever, and pretty [gutsy] for a sitting president.

Nope, I'm sticking with [gutsy].

I'd concede that it's clever and humorous, but it's not exactly appropriate merch for a sitting president to be selling himself. If some novelty shop owned by a lib wants to sell them, more power to them. But outright mockery of a segment of the population, however misguided they may have been at some point, is unbecoming behavior for the president of the United States.

Re: Thumbing His Nose at the Birthers
He is arrogant as hell, but that is beside the point. This is just plain funny and the birthers deserve all the ridicule they are about to receive.
Funny is funny, we all just need to man up and admit it.

As Sir Humphrey might say, "a courageous move, sir."

Was there ever such an un-serious President? By comparison, Snooki looks like a towering figure of gravitas.

I guess we don't have enough time to make a single .pdf but we do have enough time to think up funny mug catch phrases?
This man is president.... president. This ship is going down, if anyone needs me I'll be in my bunker eating baked beans.

I respectfully disagree. For a long time, a lot of people demanded to see the President's birth certificate. Why won't he show us his birth certificate? Why? WHY? WHY?!?! Well, here it is. In mug form.
He's merely giving people what they themselves asked for. Fair game, sez me.
If there was any text printed on the mug that overtly mocked anybody, then I might have a problem with it, but there isn't.

"[Politicians] will generally accept proposals which contain the words simple, quick, popular and cheap.
"[Politicians] will generally throw out proposals which contain the words complicated, lengthy, expensive and controversial.
"Above all, if you wish to describe a proposal in a way that guarantees that a [Politician] will reject it, describe it as courageous. Controversial will cost you votes, courageous will lose you the next election."

Indeed, it's the perfect answer to that perennial question, "What do you get for the crackpot who has everything?"

Perhaps Ricochet can get one that has Chavez on the mug with a missile beside him that says "made in Iran" and "just a short flight from Florida"
