Update: I jumped the gun on this. This was a pre-election graphic for motivation, not an accurate post-election outcome graphic. Still fun to watch. Here's looking at 2012.

sure, entertaining, but not the actual outcome.

i think this was going around before the election as what the wave could be. unfortunately, the electoral result was not quite so dramatic.

Love the graphic, but I'm concerned about its accuracy. Hawaii's only congressional district was won by Hanabusa, a Democrat, over Republican incumbent (albeit short-term) Djou. I'm also a bit troubled about the brighter colored red used in the "after" graphic, since it has the effect of accentuating GOP gains -- my preference is to let graphics speak for themselves without these tricks.

Am I missing something? And is this an isolated error?

Oops. I think you guys are right. This was a "wishful thinking" kind of graphic. I should have done my research before posting. Sorry folks. It did seem a bit magical for it to be true.

This is why so few conservatives make it in TV and the movies. Understand that entertainment and factual accuracy are never to be confused (or encouraged, for that matter.)

When do you think it was the last time a lefty inserted a lie into a dramatic or comedic piece of entertainment to make a cheap political point? This morning. And the next time it will happen? Right after lunch.

The video was created 3 weeks ago-- well before the election. A bit on the side of wishful thinking, but entertaining. We should be happy to have made the gains we did.

It still looks cool and gets the gist of it right. I'd call it artistic license.

Message the author on YouTube and ask him to update it with the actual results?

Well, I found this updated graphic from CBS. Still nicely reddish, but not quite as eye-popping as the one above.

Do they even teach classical theories of art in film school? Or is the idea that art has an objective purpose anathema?

I'm old-fashioned. I believe art and entertainment can be objectively good or bad.

Anyway, that's a great video. Like one of Mark Twain's tall tales, it speaks the truth in an exaggerated way.

Sorry for commenting on it as though it had taken place; I clearly need to review my sources more carefully. There's still something hypnotic about it, though.
