Judging by the relatively small number of posts today, and a greater enthusiasm for chicken stock than for any current events, I've concluded that today's news was either too boring, too disappointing, or a combination of the two, to merit much comment.  Let's review the day's events:

1. Chris Christie again declared that he's really, truly, seriously not running.

2. Sarah Palin's lawyers called a few states to inquire about filing deadlines.

3. Herman Cain is now tied for first with Mitt Romney in a new CBSNews poll.

4. Apple announced the new iPhone 4S, which is pretty much the same thing as the iPhone 4.

5. Newt and Callista Gingrich love the movie "The Hangover" so much that they've seen it seven times. (I wish that were a punchline to a joke and not an actual news item.)

In other words, Diane, "5 Reasons to be Pessimistic," right?

No worries, I'm sure it's just a brief pause for people to catch their breath in this 24X7 political cycle.

After all, they have to do SOME actual work from time to time!

Item 5 about Newt is very disturbing.  I can see how that movie (which I haven't seen) would appeal to teenagers and twenty-somethings but for a couple in their 50s?  I wonder how many times they saw it on their 2 week long Greek cruise last spring...

Just think, for the Greeks, it's like "Groundhog Day."

In other words, when you need a “rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn” write a recipe for chicken.

This is what happens when you leave a poll open over several days, and a big news item disrupts the results halfway through.  The Logo shudders to think of the impact on Speaker Gingrich's numbers...

Elizabeth Dunn  Ok, full disclosure here... I've seen Wedding Crashers six times.

And I blame it all on that Vince Vaughn. · Oct 4 at 7:12pm

Vince Vaughn...  why does that name ring a bell

Well, at least it's not Avatar.

Must be nice to work at a website where "everybody knows your name".

The number 7 means its a biblical sign of the end of the world. Thanks Newt. Couldn't you have said you watched Knute Rockne seven times?

Diane, Diane, Diane. Come on now, you can talk to the darn thing. It's hard to impress anyone anymore these days ;-)

Hey, I commented on 1-4 (5 I don't care about) - what else is a member supposed to do?

Oh, btw, the Iphone 4s is nothing like the 4, other than the case - most exciting thing to happen today.

Oh, and you forgot the Marxists on Wall St. - the American Fall.

Oh, and the fast and furious and Black Panther chickeeeens are coming home to roooooost.

I wonder if Bradley Cooper, Zach Galafanakis and the Hangover boys feel the same way about "Nine Days That Changed The World"???

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no.

My last comment on this*, but I think the d**n polls are depressing things. Really.

(* Probably not.)
