The Obama campaign is selling a new flag in Obama's image. Instead of stars, it has the Obama symbol. And some have noticed the similarity between the flag and some imagery that cropped up last week during the attacks on U.S. embassies around the world:

Republican decency and virtue...  were they even still alive when I was born?  It's unseemly to bask so in the trappings of the office and the country.  Caesar did less, and he was an actual dictator.

He is not the state, he is not the people.

Vote him out!

I have checked the portion in Obama 53:5 and the quote in the KOV  Bible is, "We were wounded for his transgressions. ...  By our stripes, he was healed".  Are you using an unauthorized version?  :-)

katievs: I hear "our stripes," and I think "racialist dog-whistle."

"Stripes" is a biblical term for the wounds from a scourging.

"By His stripes, we are healed."

Call me crazy, but I think this is a subtle but unmistakeable appeal to black ressentiment against whites.  Right in line with Jeremiah Wright's black liberation theology.  Those stripes are designed to look like blood. · 1 hour ago

Combining the two images, one made by an artist, one from a killer - or the killed - is chilling.  Maybe a bit of dirty pool.

I wonder how the other side decodes their manufactured icon.  That it reduces a patriotic emblem is not accidental.  The painting reimagines  the star-spangled banner as a sunrise, and a half-done thing; the five stripes suggest it's the work of a child - finger-painted; that they are red suggests that the child's psyche carries a tribal memory of violent repression as his/her inheritance.  The one finished part of the construction is the dawning O (Obama) bringing hope to manchild/womanchild America.  Virtually idolatrous.

That juxtaposition, the visual match between the professionally childish campaign graphic and the proud shot of the evidence of a murder, is indeed creepy.  Sometimes looking at a picture is like having a dream.  This is a bad one.

I hear "Occupy dog-whistle."

With stripes for streets.

Whose stripes?!? Our stripes!!!

(No rule against dog whistles sending out multiple-coded messages to multiple constituent groups who might not be very motivated to get to the polls on Nov. 6, I suppose... )

Justine Olawsky: If the real flag's stripes stand for the thirteen original colonies, what do the new flag's stripes stand for?  I count nine stripes.  My guess: Aggrieved Whites, Aggrieved Blacks, Aggrieved Latinos, Aggrieved Aborting Women, Aggrieved Gays/Lesbians, Aggrieved Native Americans, Aggrieved Multi-Millionaires, Aggrieved Academics, and Public Sector Employee Unions.  The United States of Whining Victimhood.

If ya don't spend your life in a state of perpetual indignation and aggrievement, you're probably a conservative.  And you don't get to be on the new flag.  Sorry. · 24 minutes ago

Actually, I count 5 red stripes, and 0 white ones... that's just the background showing where they haven't put anything.

Hence, the 5 stripes are O-B-A-M-A. · 2 hours ago

I just assumed he expelled GA, SC, NC, and VA from the original colonies for not showing well in his internal polls.

Speaking of creepy, did anyone see this one, which apparently was posted last night to Obama's twitter? (and taken down shortly after, if I'm remembering correctly -- I saw the message on a retweet, and the image was gone by the time I looked for it.  (from http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/05/01/President-Obama-Tweet-United-States)

Let me develop the point a bit.  I think by "our stripes" he is tapping into black grievances over slavery.

He's reminding them: Our people were enslaved once.  Now, thanks to "us"; thanks to our work, a black man is in office, and he will bring "healing" to our nation, that is, fundamental transformation, i.e. restitution.  He's going to make sure that the proud and mighty are brought down, and that the spoils are divided among the poor.

Forget the Stars and Stripes.  It's about "our stripes."

Hey protesters leave the star and stripes alone and burn this flag instead, and remember breath deeply.

Couldn't possibly be true. A BO HQ would certainly have flown the Obama flag above the stars and stripes.

So the stripes represent the original 9 states that grew to our current 57. Skip the debates, I just want them to take a high school math exam.

Is it coincidental or deliberate? Rolling out the Obama Flag right after a week of incessant shredding of the American Flag on TV.

It’s tattered & worn looking

The red & blue inks are not true colors (a pretty accurate reflection of Obama World). Look at Billy Ayers’ commie art and you’ll see the same sort of faded, burnt orange-y red instead of deep red, saturated color:

Yes.  Diluted colors, on a tattered flag, half its stripes missing.  Patriotism's potent symbol diminished, emasculated.

I wish! Can't agree more. Best comment this week, in my opinion.
